I remember as a child wishing days would pass faster so that I could get to what seemed like an important day, such as Christmas or a birthday. My dad would tell me not to wish my life away, for as the older one gets, the faster time seems to go by. Well it turns out, as with most everything else, he was right.
2016 has come and gone and it has brought changes to many of our lives. For my family, this past year, like most families, we have experienced many highs as well as some lows. Our family has expanded with the birth of our first granddaughter. Our youngest son, Jonathan, has graduated college from UNCC with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, just to mention a few. We have also had some low points but I choose not to dwell on them for I know that God is ultimately in control and “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” Rom. 8:28
I would like to pause for just a minute and say a heartfelt thank you to my church family and everyone that has been such an encouragement to me as well as my family. I truly cannot imagine getting up on Sunday morning and heading out to church anywhere other than West Corinth Baptist Church. God has allowed me to be part of this church for 13 years now, and for that I will be eternally grateful.
The beginning of a new year is always a good time to reflect and adjust. I would encourage you to take time to sit down and reflect on the things that are positive and encouraging in your life and give more attention to those things in the upcoming year, while changing the things that pull you down spiritually as well as physically. I realize that we live in a world that does not see things from a biblical perspective, but the Word of God tells us that we are “pilgrims in a strange land.” We have been called out of the world and should not be partakers of the worldly things that would pull us away from our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
May we enter this new year with a heart filled with love and compassion for those that may not know the Lord Jesus as their Savior. Let us have purpose in our hearts to tell them about His saving grace before it is eternally too late.
Every day that comes and goes is one day closer to the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ in the clouds of glory. He is the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings and HE IS COMING BACK!
May God richly bless you, your family, and our church in the upcoming year.

Parents Night Out:
Our December lesson was on the nativity (Luke 2:1-20). We presented "The Manger Mouse", the nativity story as experienced through the eyes of a mouse. This story was shared using lights and props made by our youth. Our January lesson is on Noah. We'll have crafts and group activities centered around the ark. All children are invited and encouraged to bring a friend!
Food Bank Ministry:
This program is being postponed until after the first of next year. Those involved with this ministry will reconvene next month to determine what changes should be made to help reach the needy.
Backpack Program: We sponsored the backpack children at Millbridge elementary by providing stockings filled with small toys, socks, gloves, toboggans, etc. There were 7 girls and 5 boys. These stockings, along with their backpacks, were sent home the last school day in December. We hope these stockings helped make Christmas a brighter time for these children.
Baptist Men:
Will meet the last Sunday of every month for breakfast at 8am. Please join us for a time of fellowship in the Lord.
Embrace: Join us for Burgers and Bowling January 10th. (Postponed)
Outreach:
The church sponsored two children at Millbridge elementary and two children at Shadybrook elementary for Christmas. The donated money was used to purchase needed gift items for the children. Special thanks to the youth and youth leaders for buying the gifts, wrapping them. And delivering them to the schools,
Youth:
We are planning a trip to go ice skating January 21st. Our children will meet each Sunday at 4:00pm for fellowship, devotions and missions. We invite all middle school and high school children.
