2.0Establishment of a Quorum

2.1Jason Mitchell had comments regarding attendance.

2.1.1The breakdown 400 attendances. We brought in $41,000 dollars

2.1.2 277 certified athletic trainer members at the meeting.

2.1.3105 certified athletic trainer members in the room. We do not have a quorum.

3.0Approval of the District Meeting Minutes of May 17, 2013, Greenville, SC

No voting was necessary because business will not be conduct due to the lack of a quorum.

4.0Reports of Officers

4.1Secretary’s Report- Kevin King

4.1.1He shared his appreciation of feedback.

4.1.2He also announced District avenues of communication- Facebook and the MAATA Newsletter.

4.1.3Also noted that we are evaluating analytics in an effort to secure future advertisement on the website.

4.1.4New logos noted described to the group.

4.2 Treasurer’s Report- Robert Cable

4.2.1Presented budget to the group

4.2.1.1MAATA has $149,492.72 in the checking

account

4.2.1.2MAATA CD with Well’s Fargo is worth

$48,784.61

4.2.1.3In total, we have total assets of $198,277.36.

4.2.1.4The meeting should make money this year.

4.2.1.5The CD will be mature on the 18th of May and the Board of Directors is allowing the treasure to reinvest the amount. Also, an additional amount of cash may be utilized for a CD. In an effort to protect us if there is a future problem.

4.2.1.6He shared his appreciation for his time in this role.

5.6.1Pat Lamboni- NATAPAC

5.6.1.1Last year’s donation was totaled nearly $1,400.

5.6.1.2He thanked the people that have donated

5.6.1.3Donation are still available for PAC Breakfast

For $50 at the NATA Symposium on June 26.

5.6.1.4Encourage members to visit the NATA government site

5.6.1.5Encourage members to attend the hit the hill event.

5.6.2Dawn Emerson- YPC

5.6.2.1West Virginia has an available position for representation for a young professional.

5.6.2.2NATA YPC sessions announced for Saturday at the NATA meeting in June.

5.6.2.3Announced YP events at the District meeting.

5.6.3Jill Manners- NATA Foundation

5.6.3.1Last year, the Foundation gave out over $145,000 in scholarships.

5.6.3.2The Foundation gave out over $160,000 in grants.

5.6.3.3The organization also puts out position statements.

5.6.3.4Guidelines for practice are also on the NATA Foundation website.

5.6.3.5Announcement of initiative at the NATA meeting in June. NATA night at the WNBA game, Friday, June 27. $3 will be given back for ticket purchased in a fund raising effort.

5.6.3.6District III lost donors. She encourages members to continue to give.

5.6.3.7She announced Shoe Box planned giving regarding estate planning. She added that more information is located on the website.

5.6.3.8Student challenge. Athletic training student challenge. Money up to $100 will be given back.

5.6.3.9The District III Graduate grant is $500 short of being endowed. She encourages giving to this fund.

5.6.3.10$525 was raised by the initiative of allowing the speakers to be directed gift toward a monetary donation.

5.6.4Joe Beckett- Scholarship

He announced his desire is to make the process more user friendly. Increased to 30 applicants for these scholarships.

Deadline will be earlier and transitioning to electronic applications.

5.6.4.1Bobby Gun Student Leadership Scholarship

5.6.4.2Ed Block Undergraduate Scholarship

5.6.4.3Larry Sutton Postgraduate Scholarship

5.6.4.4AC Whitey Gwynne Master’s Scholarship

5.6.5John Lopez- Honors and Awards

5.6.5.1He asked for the members to support the process. There has been difficulty in the past in nominating members.

5.6.5.2Open up earlier for nominations.

5.6.5.3Several award winners from our District.

5.6.5.4The position for chair of committee will be open because John is resigning.

6.0 Unfinished / New Business

6.1Constitution and By-Laws Proposed Changes will not occur due to the lack of a quorum. Ann Sedory and her group did an exceptional job in working on this project.

6.2Site Selection Committee has to report the following dates for meetings:

6.2.1May 29-31, 2015

6.2.2May 20-22, 2016

6.2.3May 19-22, 2017

6.3Founders Inn and Spa, Virginia Beach, VA will be the location for the meeting for the next three years.

6.8.1General Comments

6.8.1.1NATA continues to be in a strong financial position

6.8.1.2Protect America’s Student Athlete’s: Cosponsor H. RES. 72. Director Aronson asked that members fill out the yellow cards. They will be collected at the end of the meeting and mailed by our organization.

6.8.1.3Secondary School Student Athletes’ Bill of Rights. Members asked to sign yellow cards

6.8.1.4The White Paper was discussed at the lecture on Friday evening.

6.9State Meetings announced.

6.10Encouraged to the membership to meet with the vendors.

The Meeting was adjourned at 6:58 PM.

The District III meeting will be held at 6:15 PM in room 238 at the Convention Center at the NATA Convention in Indianapolis, IN, June 26.
