THIS BEING THE TIME heretofore set to canvas the official election results for the 2016 Primary Election.
Ms. Sherrie Swensen, County Clerk, stated voter turnout for the 2016 Primary Election was 26.78 percent, which is a record for a primary election. On Election Day, 4,343 people voted in person at the vote centers and 415 people voted at the early vote locations. Conducting the election by mail was successful in terms of turnout. None of the contests were eligible for a recount and nothing has changed from election night.
Council Member Snelgrove asked if there are enough, too many, or too few vote centers for the general election.
Ms. Swensen stated for the general election there will be 41 vote centers. Early voting will be reevaluated to determine whether to continue the option as there was a very low turnout.
Council Member Snelgrove asked what the voting pattern was in terms of receiving ballots back.
Ms. Swensen stated the majority of ballots were returned within a few days of the voter receiving their ballot. It then tapered off with another increase as Election Day got closer.
She then submitted the following results from the recount:
