The Mountain Laurel Garden Club will sponsor its 17th annual tour, “Secret Country Gardens” tour, Saturday, June 24, 2017 from 10 AM until 4 PM. Members of the Garden Tour committee have been finalizing plans for the tour which will feature five gardens in Garrett County, MD: Irma and Sherman Hull, Country Cottage Garden; Denise and Wayne Kramer, Woodland Shade Garden; Camille and Ed Spurr, Fourth Street Garden; The James Drane Heirloom Garden and tour at the Drane House; and The Meadow Garden, a MLGC Conservation Committee award-winning project.

During the tour, visitors will be greeted at a welcome table with arrangements provided by the Floral Design and Show Committee. The Horticulture Committee will participate with a perennial plant sale. Refreshments will be provided by members of the club and a garden boutique, with many garden-related items from traditional to “shabby-chic” for sale, will be located at Haley Farm, 16766 Garrett Hwy, north of Oakland and will also provide information regarding the MLGC Scholarship to Garrett College.

The cost of a ticket for the tour is $10.00, a dollar of which will be donated to The Drane House. Tickets, which include a short description of each garden and written directions beginning at the Oakland Gazebo, may be purchased in advance at the following locations: Gregg’s Pharmacy, Oakland; Green Acres Garden Center, Oakland; Arrowhead Market, RT. 219 Deep Creek Lake; Firefly Farms Market and Creamery, Accident; and The Medicine Shoppe, Grantsville. On the day of the tour at the Gazebo in Oakland, members of the Garrett County Historical Society will sell tickets. The Boutique will also have tickets on the day of the tour.

Proceeds from the garden tour will be used by the Mountain Laurel Garden Club for the continued beautification of our communities and to encourage gardening and sound conservation practices through club activities and programs. A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to the Garrett County Historical Society.
