Looking for a good Engineering professor?
Here are the Res Hall peer advisors’ picks for Fall 2008 and the classes they are teaching:
· Professor Babak Ayazifar: EE20 (Structure and Interpretation of Systems and Signals) Well organized, interesting presentation style, good demos, and helpful in OH
· Professor Dan Garcia: CS3L (Introduction to Symbolic Programming) Dynamic teacher, a comedy show that teaches you CS, really excited about everything, cares about students
· Professor Ron Gronsky: E45 (Intro to Material Science) Fair, funny, nice, explains things well, down to earth
· Professor Ron Fearing: EE199 (Supervised Independent Study) he is a humble genius who makes so many news articles its ridiculous. His research is exciting! Robotic geckos and flies!
· Professor Dan Klein: CS188 (Introduction to Artificial Intelligence), very smart guy in artificial intelligence. He actually cares about the subject and is willing to teach the students and excite them.
· Professor Christos Papadimitriou: CS70 (Discrete Mathematics and Probability Theory) probably the funniest smartest teacher at Berkeley. He teaches the hardest material there is but he can't stop telling jokes and making really good analogies. If he doesn't cover the material he's not going to leave you responsible, he'll slow down to catch everybody. Totally about learning, who cares about the grade, work together – that’s his motto.
· Professor Chenming Hu, EE199 (Supervised Independent Study) Also teaches EE130 but not for Fall 2008. Very good professor, class isn’t too hard and gives you a deeper understanding of semiconductor devices that aren’t well taught in other EE classes. He is famous in the EE field and industry.
· Professor Vivek Subramanian , EE130(Integrated-Circuit Devices)-Difficult but great teacher. Will definitely learn the material well.
· Professor David Tse, EE199 (Supervised Independent Study) Also teaches EE121, EE224 but not for Fall 2008. Excellent lecturer, funny and upbeat.
