Emergency Team CatalogCPR Shields & AidesPage 3

Rondex Redishield

This shield can be worn or carried as a keychain. It's strong one-way valve keeps reflux from reaching the rescuer during mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, and the small profile allows insertion into the smallest of mouths.

This device is packaged with vinyl gloves in a very small keychain.

ITEM: LSIS102

O-Two Systems Revive-Aid

This device combines a breathing barrier with gloves and a 4 x 4 gauze pad to make a CPR and First Aid mini-response system. It comes packaged in a keychain pouch that can also be worn as on a belt via it’s attached belt loops.

ITEM: LSIS101

O-Two Systems Pocket Vent

This is a great product! A compact pocket rescue mask with a head strap and an oxygen inlet - all at the low price of $10!

This device can be reversed for use on infants. The device can be cleaned after a resuscitation and reused after replacing the one-way valve and filtrete.

We especially like the Pocket Vent because it has one of the softest "bubble" seals we've ever seen in a mask. It makes CPR mask training much easier than hard "bubble" masks.

Makes a great remediation tool during and between class sessions. Designed for both health care provider and layperson instruction, the CPR Prompt Rescue and Practice Aid is a coach during real emergencies and a great way to refresh CPR skills. Advanced microchip technology directs the voice prompt calmly through the proper steps for adult, children and infant CPR. The CPR Prompt Rescue and Practice Aid is easy-to-carry and fits conveniently in a pocket, purse or on a key chain.

Emergency Team CatalogAutomated External DefibrillatorsPage 6

Defibrillation is considered the most definitive care for cardiac arrest. In fact for a pulseless adult, chances of surviving a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) patient without an early electrical counter-shock are less than 1%.

With the advent of AED's (Automated External Defibrillators), this lifesaving technology can be placed in the hands of corporate and industrial responders. In fact, defibrillation is the most significant intervention your MERT team can perform for a cardiac arrest patient.

ZOLL AED Plus

This is the latest FDA-approved automated external defibrillator (AED) on the market. It has several cutting-edge original features such as:

One-Piece Electrodes – To minimize rescuer anxiety and encourage more accurate pad placement.

Coaches through CPR – To guide rescuers through not only the AED application like other devices but rather the whole resuscitation from shaking the patient and calling 9-1-1 to defibrillating.

Graphical Interface – Provides additional assistance though the use of pictures for rescuers with limited English or in noisy environments.

CPR Feedback – Machine gauges compression depth and provides a metronome at the correct compression rate to assist rescuers in performing CPR.

MERT Training

MERT is the term we use for top-of-the-line emergency care training for corporations and industry. The concept behind MERT is to form a dedicated group to respond to problems within a facility or company. MERT members take a one day (8 hour) program that teaches the most up to date first aid and resuscitation techniques and how to use the most high tech emergency equipment.

The program has an specific emblem and product line associated with it. MERT products are available only through Less Stress Instructional Services.

The MERT program include a number of sub-programs that we often do independently. While MERT sessions will vary slightly from client to client, a few of the elements are standard:
Adult CPR Training: MERT participant will learn adult CPR techniques. These are resuscitation procedures for individuals age 8 and over.
AED:MERT participants are taught to use an Automated External Defibrillator. Traditionally we train participants on the specific unit they will use. We have a large number of AED trainers from the various manufacturers that we use to ensure that MERT members are comfortable using the device.
Basic First Aid Training:Of all the skills a MERT member might use, Basic First Aid techniques are the most likely to get used. The course includes management of injuries such as bleeding control and fractures, medical emergencies such as diabetic problems and seizures, as well as environmental emergencies such as heat exhaustion and poisoning.
Oxygen Therapy: The prompt application of emergency oxygen can often significantly lessen the damage done to patient during serious injury or medical emergency. The MERT program teaches use of an emergency oxygen kit and the various components used to deliver the therapy.
Bloodborne Pathogens:This short self-protection inservice covers the possibility of disease transmission during occupational emergencies. Relevant concerns, protective equipment, and regulations are discussed.
Pediatric CPR Training (optional): Extended MERT training can include pediatric CPR techniques and procedures for children from birth to age eight. It is particularly popular when MERT members have children. This module will extend class time an additional two hours.

MERT training isn't really any different than regular CPR/First Aid training - in fact, MERT program participants

receive the same nationally recognized training certificates that we give out for our more traditional CPR/First Aid programs. The difference is that MERT integrates the site's specific equipment (their brand of AED or oxygen bottle for example) and supplies into the course. More than teach people how to perform CPR or First Aid, it teaches

people to respond to emergencies - addressing issues like deployment, continuing education, and documentation. Your participants will not just learn to bandage a patient, they will learn to attend to the injury, document it properly, and provide a solid hand-off report to the responding ambulance. MERT also specifically integrates the site's specific equipment into all the skills (very important!). Participants will learn rescue breathing with oxygen if that is available, will work out of the specific MERT bags that the site has purchased, etc. Features like this make MERT one of the most sophisticated popular emergency care programs we run.
