Dream House Project
The Dream House Project gives each student the opportunity to apply the concepts of geometry in real world applications. Each student will work cooperatively in a teacher-chosen group consisting of one or two other students in the class. Each group will research and design a dream home. Each group will turn in original plans, housing costs, and a detailed description of their home. Also, each group will be required to present their home to the class.
Due Dates:
Friday, May 13: Brainstorming ideas and rough sketches of Dream House.
Monday, May 16: Dream House Final Plans
Wednesday, May 18: Front View; Area calculations for each room, each floor, and whole house.
Thursday, May 13: Cost Calculations
Friday, May 20: Entire Project is due—completed!!
Friday, May 20: Dream House Presentations—you should be prepared to present on that Friday. If your partner is absent and your group is called, you should be prepared to present your project alone. Each person in the group should be able to answer any questions about the project.
You will be given daily grades for week based on the work you turn in on each due date listed above.
This project is worth two test grades. The first test grade is for the actual project itself, and the second test grade is for your presentation.
