Employment application form notes09/2017 (AT)
Guidance on completing the application form.
Please ensure all sections of the application form are completed fully using black ink and that you sign the form. If you are applying electronically you will be asked to sign your form at the interview stage.
Before filling in your application form, please read the job description carefully. This outlines the duties to be performed, and if provided, the person specification will outline the skills, abilities and attributes required of the post-holder. You will need to demonstrate that you meet the requirements of the job description, (or at least have the potential to do so), in order to be shortlisted for an interview.
Your employment history should include all past and present employment and should explain any gaps.
Suitability for the Post
This is an important section where you can expand on the knowledge, skills and experience gained from your employment and give relevant examples of any key achievements. Please continue on a separate sheet if necessary.
Referees
Ensure that the names of referees that you supply relate to people who you know in a professional capacity. Ideally, at least one referee should be your current manager or college tutor. Previous managers or tutors can also be named, but where possible, you should avoid providing names of colleagues or friends as referees.
Your referees will be asked to supply information regarding your professional and technical ability, your character and personality, and your timekeeping and reliability. They will also be asked for information regarding your general health and absences on the grounds of sickness over the last two years.
Evidence of information provided in your application form
Successful candidates will be required to provide documentary evidence of the qualifications required to do the job. We reserve the right to verify any information given on the application form and failure to provide such evidence will result in the offer being withdrawn or in dismissal.
Disclosure and Barring Service
Welsh Athletics works with the Disclosure and Barring Service (previously Criminal Records Bureau and Independent Safeguarding Authorities), to enable safer recruitment decisions by identifying candidates who may be unsuitable for certain work, especially that involving close and regular contact with children or vulnerable adults. This will be made clear to applicants before any offer of employment is made.
