2015-16: Short Term Housing Request Form
If you wish to request University housing for either a single semester or for a short term contract, please complete the Short Term Housing Request Form and return it to the Housing Office (details below). Before completing the form, please read the notes below.
International / Exchange / Visiting / Erasmus / Students returning from a semester abroad
You may apply for a room in University housing for a single semester. Please indicate a preference of room type but be aware that availability of certain types may be limited. We will do our best to offer you your preference. However, if we are unable to offer you your preference, we will offer you an alternative room. This could include a room in a University Managed House, off campus.
International / Exchange / Visiting / Erasmus
Please return your form by no later than 11th December 2015. You will receive your room offer from us by email either just before or just after the Christmas bank holiday period.
Students returning from a semester abroad
Please return your form by no later than 29th May 2015. Once we have received your form, we will send you an initial confirmation that we can offer you a room. You will then be required to pay a £100 holding fee so that we will reserve a room for you. We will then write to you in December 2015 with details about your room. When you move in to your room, your holding fee will be taken off your total rent amount.
By paying your holding fee, you are making a commitment to take a room from us for semester 2. If you change your mind and decide to withdraw your application, you agree to forfeit the holding fee.
Arrivals for semester 2
Arrivals for semester take place from Thursday 7th January 2016. Please see our arrivals web page for more details. Please note that earlier arrivals will not be possible.
Short term contracts
Rooms in University housing are usually available on standard contracts that cover the whole academic year. However, the University may consider non-standard short term contracts if there is no waiting list for halls and there are rooms available.
Once you have returned your form, we will contact you to let you know either a room offer or to discuss your situation with you. Please make sure that you check your emails daily as this is how we will contact you.

Students with additional requirements
The University of Winchester strives to make any reasonable adaptation to the study and living environment for those with specific requirements due to a disability or severe medical condition. For those with multiple or complex needs, we strongly recommend that you contact the Disabilities and Learning Diversity Team in Student Services and Student Housing Services as early as possible to have a discussion about your needs.
If you declare any needs on your form, we will ask you to complete a declaration of requirements questionnaire and to send supporting evidence (usually a GP or consultant’s letter).
Kitchen / Bedding Packs
Kitchen equipment and bedding is not provided as standard. If you are not able to provide your own, you can purchase a kitchen or bedding pack from us – please indicate on your application form if you need one or both. Costs are detailed on the form.
