Monday / Daily Objective: Students will be able to analyze theme and character development during the dénouement of a dramatic work.

o To consider a work’s structure, style, and themes as well as such smaller scale
elements as the use of figurative language, imagery, symbolism, and tone.
o To study representative works from various genres and periods (from the sixteenth to the twentieth century) and to know a few works extremely well.
Learning Activities:
o Streetcar theme groups assigned
o Theme groups discuss a character, relationship, conflict, symbol, or key moment that be used to discuss that Tennessee Williams is saying about the theme in his play
o Theme groups will present their responses and evidence Tuesday
o A Streetcar Named Desire –read, analyze, pause for CFU’s

Tuesday / Daily Objective: Students will be able to analyze the theme of a drama using indirect citations and will be able to demonstrate the ability to talk about a literary work’s holistic worth to the reader/audience.

o To study representative works from various genres and periods (from the sixteenth
to the twentieth century) and to know a few works extremely well.
Learning Activities:
· Finish A Streetcar Named Desire—read, analyze, randomizing responses as we read
· Theme O-E Quiz as exit ticket; one theme randomly picked from those assigned to groups. (notes taken during group presentations will be permitted to be used during quiz)

Wed/Thur / Daily Objective: Students will be able to study and analyze film as a media in which to send messages to the audience; the film study will help students to convey an empathic/audience response as well as discuss key theatrical and film components.
TEKS/AP/Standards:
· To consider a work’s structure, style, and themes as well as such smaller scale
elements as the use of figurative language, imagery, symbolism, and tone.
o To study representative works from various genres and periods (from the sixteenth to the twentieth century) and to know a few works extremely well.
Learning Activities:
· Film Study Socratic seminar: Streetcar film clips [Vivien Leigh/Marlon Brando version]
· Desks will be placed in a modified arrangement so as to spur discussion when film is paused. Film study questions will be used to guide discussion and structure it accordingly.
