The airport is 30 minutes drive from downtown Bratislava. Many people take the advantage of the Vienna Airport (www.viennaairport.com), which is located only 45 km from Bratislava. There is a direct bus line from the Vienna airport (Schwechat Airport) (http://www.viennaairport.com/en/passengers/arrival__parking/bus_connections) to the Main Bus Terminal Mlynske Nivy in Bratislava which is located in the city centre. The shuttle bus operates daily from around 6.00 am to 11.00 pm at hourly intervals and the journey takes approx. 1 hour. The ticket price is around 10,- €.

Arriving by Train

The railroad service in Slovakia is comfortable. Bratislava is connected to the railroad network of all neighbouring countries: Austria (Vienna), Hungary (Budapest), Poland (Warsaw), the Czech Republic (Prague), Ukraine (Kiev). Departing from the Main Train Station (in Slovak „Hlavná stanica“) in Bratislava, located 5 minutes from the city centre, you can easily reach all university towns in the Slovak Republic. The website www.slovakrail.sk provides information about the schedule, prices, transition points and duration of your journey, www.busy.sk provides an itinerary combining trains and buses. If applicable, the clerk at the train station may ask you about your travel preferences: EC - Eurocity train (international), IC - Intercity train, fast train (in Slovak „rýchlik“) or slow train (in Slovak „osobný vlak“). There is a possibility to buy a seat reservation (in Slovak „miestenka“), since the trains may be crowded, especially on Fridays and Sundays, when students travel to and from school. International trains are dispatched

several times a day from several train stations in the country and international tickets can be bought also at the train station international ticket office (in Slovak „medzinárodná pokladňa“).
