General Meeting, July. 10, 2007

Minutes:

·  The meting was call to order at– 7:30 PM.

·  Warden’s Report on Membership Cards was completed by Koji Takemura.

·  Opening Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance were led by the Grand Knight.

·  The Roll Call of Officers was completed by Jose Lopez –Excused: Dennis Stump.

Awards: A 1st Degree award was issued to Gabriel Lopez. A Knight of the Month certificate (May) was presented to Manny Padilla for his work on the Casino Turnaround trip. The June Knight of thee Month was David Montoya for his efforts at the St. Margaret Mary Festival. The Family of the Month for June was Dan and Maria Sapien for their work on the St. Margaret Mary Festival. The Family of the Year Award was issued to Ramiro and Carol Caro. The Knight of the Year Award went to Koji Takemura.

Outgoing Grand Knight thanked thanks everyone for their support this past year.

·  The Reading of Minutes of Previous Meeting were waived and accepted as printed.

·  New Membership: A form 100 for Bob Hopkins was read, signed and approved.

·  The treasurers Report was made by Mike Leeming.

·  Reading of Bills and Communications – All bills were approved.

·  Grand Knight‘s Report – Paul Diaz stated that we have received a notice for the Simon Event at the Brea Mall. It will be held on Nov. 23rd

·  Financial Secretary’s Report: Was completed by GK Paul Diaz for Dennis Stump. In June we took in $909.24 and our expenditures were $4315.64 for the DDF fund, Pro Life and end of year expenses.

Old Business:

·  Burrito breakfast last month grossed $471.00 and netted $212.09.

·  Eagle Scout board has been made and installed.

·  Seminarian RSVP Program was tabled until the next officers meeting

·  About 30 people attended the last Corporate Communion at St Margaret Mary Church. The next one will be on Aug 31st.

·  Trustees and auditors no report.

New Business:

·  A Certificate of Appreciation will be given to Fr. Pat O’Hagan on Aug. 11th.

·  A certificate of Appreciation was issued to Past Grand Knight Tom Hughes.

·  Richard Hunger received a Silver Honorary Award.

·  Gene Gono was awarded a Gold Card Life Membership.

·  Western steak will be held on Oct 18th.

·  Fr. Ken’s Open house will be held on July 20th at 2:00 PM. This is the same day as pool party.

·  Manny Padilla made a motion to donate $100.00 for Fr. Ken. The motion was approved.

·  Mike Leeming will pick up the used cooking oil on Sunday or some time next week.

·  We have 2 returned checks from the Cinco de Mayo event. One will be paid but there is no response from the second person.

·  Tom Hughes will get a report on the possibility of updating our web site.

·  An Additional refrigerator is needed for food storage. A Motion by Tom Hughes was made to purchase a new one. The motion was tabled until officers meeting to discussion t he cost. Jeff Runtz recommended we notify the church office before proceding.

·  The Officers Installation will be on Sunday Aug 17 at 4:00 PM in the chapel. The Installation Dinner will be held at Trapico Mexico restaurant.

·  Manny Padilla would like to schedule another turnaround trip. The tentative date is Sept. 13th. He would like to see the proceeds go a Third World country through the Wheelchair Fund.

·  Bob Adams will take magazines to VA Hospital. He asked that we drop them off at the church office or bring them to the next meeting. This is an on going project.

·  The 1st degree team meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month. They received 3 new books recently.

·  Good of the order: David... Montoya spoke on Bishop Lori’s article in last months Columbian magazine. The topic was the Trinity.

·  Lou Cartwright needs help with moving the grill.

·  Luau tickets are available for $25.00.

·  New directors are needed for the various positions. DGK Mike Rodriguez will report on this next month. Church Director, Koji Takemura, Pro life Director Tom Callahan, Retention Director Lou Cartwright Community Director Steve Marquez, Membership Director Robert Johnson. The Youth, Family and Vocations Directors positions are open.

·  Volunteers are needed to head the various committees.

Community Director Steve Marques reported on the Concerts in the Park at Crossroads Park on Wednesdays and Thursdays in Chino

·  Koji Takemura stated that the next Blood Drive at St. Paul’s is on Aug 3rd. Jackets & shirt orders are needed by the end of the month.
