A RESOLUTION recognizing and honoring the Montgomery County High School Indians boys basketball team for winning the 10th Region Boys Basketball Tournament and advancing to the 2013 KHSAA Boys' Sweet Sixteen Basketball Tournament.
WHEREAS, the Montgomery County Indians entered the 2012-2013 basketball season with a determined will for excellence, unified in their mission to win and stand as champions; and
WHEREAS, the young men of the Montgomery County Indians basketball team fought valiantly throughout the season, competing in hard-fought battles at the Farmer's National Bank 12th Region Showcase, Gateway Holiday Classic, Toyota Classic, Joe B. Hall Classic, Black Bear Classic, and 40th District Tournament; and
WHEREAS, the Montgomery County Indians basketball team stands as one of the most defensively and offensively sound teams in the state, storming through the season with a 31-4 record and rising in the 10th Region High School Basketball Tournament with a 68-37 victory over the Scott Eagles on March 2, 2013, at Mason County Fieldhouse; and
WHEREAS, the Montgomery County Indians basketball team is an inspired group of competitors, led by first season Head Coach Happy Osborne, Jr. and his coaching staff, and driven by players Omar Prewitt, Bryan Wallace, Darius Jones, Chase Hall, Tyler Jones, Joe Chism, Shelby Combs, Tanner Combs, Jared Fredrick, Caswell Fuller, Samuel Hodgsen, Braxton Hopkins, Matthew Kosier, Lance Lockridge, Jarrad Looney, Greg Margotto, Cody Parsley, Julian Piersawl, Lucian Royse, Chaiten Tomlin, and Art Walker; and
WHEREAS, the Montgomery County Indians basketball team merits honor and recognition for their perseverance, spirited efforts, and hard work in advancing to the 2013 KHSAA Boys' Sweet Sixteen Basketball Tournament, leading as a positive example for all youth in this great Commonwealth to emulate;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
Section 1. The Senate does hereby recognize and honor the Montgomery County High School Indians boys basketball team, Head Coach Happy Osborne, Jr., Principal Jim Dusso, and assistants and support staff, upon winning the 10th Region Boys Basketball Tournament and advancing to the 2013 KHSAA Boys' Sweet Sixteen Basketball Tournament.
Section 2. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator R.J. Palmer II for presentation to the Montgomery County High School Indians boys basketball Team.
