POSITION: GRANTS ACCOUNTANT

Functional Unit: Finance

Reporting to: Regional Accountant

Duty Station: Designated region

Key relationships:

  • Internally: Regional Accountant, Program Officers, Grants Administrator and other AAIK staff
  • Externally: Donor finance representatives, Partners.
  1. MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The Grants Accountant is responsible for effective management of donor funded projects and partnerships grants to ensure effective programme implementation and the organization maintain financial accountability to our donors and other stakeholders.

  1. RESPONSIBILITIES

Grants Management

  • Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual donor reports and reconciliations for the assigned projects
  • Manage the partners working with the assigned projects in terms of partnership assessments, grants advancing & follow up and capacity building
  • Process cash requests for all assigned projects and ensures funds are available for project implementation.
  • Proper filing of all project documentation.

Partnership Financial Management & Capacity Building

  • Providing support in partner selection by conducting partner assessment and developing capacity building plans
  • Process disbursememt to partners including reviewing partners reports and documentation, processing disbursements
  • Supports the regions, Development Initiatives and partners in finance related trainings

Internal Control Systems and Other duties

  • Carrying out grants management induction for all new staff and conducting grants management training for non finance staff
  • Co-ordinate external audits and supports internal audit for donor funded projects as well as partners
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor

General

  • As part of the regional team participate in pursuing the implementation of the CSP
  • Increased levels of transparency and Accountability to community in the Region
  • Compliance on performance management within the region

Timely and accurate donor reports, accurate and reliable budgets and financial reports, timely completion of audits, timely implementation of audit recommendations, efficient management of projects cash flow, prompt responses to budget related queries, good partnership financial management.

E. JOB REQUIREMENT (KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS COMPETENCIES)

1. Qualifications

Minimum Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce or a business related field, and Professional accounting qualifications (CPA, ACCA or CA)

2. Minimum Working Experience

Minimum 3 years’ relevant work experience

3. Skills required

  • Richexperience preferably financial reporting for projects
  • Good knowledge of Programme Management and Development.
  • Communication and analytical skills.
  • Computer skills
