Driving standards
Drivers must abide by the CAMS Code of Driving Conduct.
The following matters are brought to your attention.
- Weaving on the straight is not permitted. The straight is for overtaking, not for blocking.
- Consistent blocking by driving up to the inside of corners is not authorised save at the end of a race when some discretion may be tolerated.
- If you wish to go off the usual racing line, care must be taken so as not to interfere with a car attempting to overtake. Once committed to an alternative line, you must remain there.
- When overtaking the onus, in general, is on the driver behind to complete the manoeuvre safely. Do not expect the car in front to give way if you are not far enough past. You must give racing room!
- If you go off the track, care must be taken before rejoining to ensure you do not interfere with other drivers.
- Forceful driving, such as deliberately pushing cars off the track will not be tolerated.
- The Race Director/Clerk of the Course may elect to use the bad sportsmanship flag as a warning if he considers drivers are not respecting the Driving Code, or refer the matter to the Stewards of the Meeting.
- Driving over the kerbs and bringing dirt on to the track may result in the car being black flagged by the Race Director for a pit lane penalty and/or the driver being referred to the Stewards of the Meeting. In practice/qualifying all times recorded prior to the pit lane penalty being served may be disallowed.
Flag signals
It is the drivers’ responsibility to observe the flag signals and act accordingly.
- Be aware of signals being displayed from starter’s podium at all times.
- Slow in the yellow flag zone and do not overtake until having passed the green flag.
- During red flag periods slow as much as possible and be prepared to stop. No overtaking is allowed. Beware of officials and service vehicles on the circuit.
- The Black Flag and other flags may be displayed at another point around the track in addition to the starter’s box
Safety Car
- All drivers are reminded of the Safety Car procedures that apply to the Series, as per the RMSR and Sporting Regulations. The following matters are brought to your attention
- Slow and do not overtake as soon as the yellow flags and SC boards are displayed.
- All automobiles must form up in a 2X2 formation and not more than 3 car lengths behind the automobile in front with the lead automobile on the pole position side of the circuit
- Beware of officials and service vehicles on the circuit especially at the incident site.
- When the safety car withdraws the lead car must maintain the speed of the Safety Car when it withdrew.
- All automobiles must maintain this formation until they have crossed the control line
- All laps behind the Safety Car are counted as race laps.
Other issues
- If involved in an incident which may lead to a Stewards Inquiry do not leave the circuit without the permission of the Stewards. If in doubt, ask.
- At the completion of each practice session and race all vehicles will cease racing and proceed to the circuit exit. Do not enter pit lane.
- Be aware that official vehicles may be moving on the circuit at any point.
