Important Notes to this Degree Plan:

·  Students must choose to complete either the Tarleton or MCC Core curriculum. Please inform the Tarleton advisor if you are core curriculum complete with MCC. See academic advisor for clarification.

·  Students must have completed all 12 hours of English (ENGL 1301, ENGL 1302, and both sophomore literature courses), MATH 1314, SPCH 1311, and TECA 1354, and be enrolled in EDUC 3320 in order to be considered for admission to the Tarleton College of Education.

·  A minimum of 60 semester hours must be completed with a minimum overall GPA of 2.75.

·  No grade lower than "C" will be accepted in Professional Education, Generalist, Reading and 12 hours of required ENGLISH.

·  A grade of “B” or better is required in Speech.

·  Speech and Spanish courses must be taken in a face-to-face class. No online classes will be accepted.

·  Students are required to have taken THEA or Accuplacer before or prior to the end of the semester when enrolled in EDUC 3320. Passing scores are noted below:

THEA requirements: MATH 230 READING 230 WRITING 220

ACCUPLACER requirements: WRITING 6 on essay or

5 on essay and 80 on skills

READING 78

MATH 63 on Elementary Algebra

Passing scores for Asset or Compass will also be taking into consideration.

·  A minimum GPA of 2.75 is required in all courses of professional development (EDUC), in the 4-8 teaching field and its supplemental coursework, and in each area required for admission and certification.

·  A total of four (4) lab science courses are required for this degree. These courses are listed above within the degree guide.

·  Academic advisors and certification officers reserve the right to disallow coursework on certification plans over seven years old. Due to changing certification requirements, it is possible that previously taken coursework will not count towards the current application.

·  Should students be concurrently enrolled with Tarleton and MCC, they must complete a Concurrent Enrollment form, which can be located by clicking on: http://www.tarleton.edu/registrar/forms/Concurrent%20Enrollment%20FormID2.pdf. Please see Tarleton academic advisor for guidance.

·  Admission to the Tarleton Teacher Education Program takes place during the first semester of the cohort while students are enrolled in EDUC 3320. Students will be guided through this process during the first semester enrolled with Tarleton.
