NOTICE OF POSITION VACANCY: Posting Date: June 25, 2015

High School Agriculture Education Teacher Closing Date: Open Until Filled

The Successful Candidate shall:

·  Demonstrate an ability to design and implement an effective agriculture education program based on individual student needs and in response to industry trends.

·  Demonstrate effective skills in instructional strategies, behavior management and student assessment through differentiated instructional practices.

·  Exhibit strong communication skills and demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and all staff.

·  Manage the agriculture education program, equipment, supplies and facility.

·  Serve as an advisor to the FFA Chapter of the Odessa High School and develop this program to supplement the agriculture course work and provide leadership opportunities to those students interested in participating.

·  Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, etc., and clearly communicate these to students.

·  Exhibit the desire and ability to incorporate industrial arts education into the agriculture program.

·  Exhibit the ability to integrate the use of educational technology into the learning process.

·  Be energetic, excited about teaching and excited about learning. This will be demonstrated by:

o  Provide examples of student-focused decision-making.

o  Provide examples of active involvement in professional development to remain current in the trends of education.

·  Be a leader in connecting the agriculture education curriculum to the math, science, reading and writing grade level expectations.

·  Have a desire to be part of a team with a primary goal of developing well-rounded students.

·  Demonstrate a passion for teaching and a genuine desire to work with kids.

·  Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.

QUALIFICATIONS:

·  Must have a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate.

·  Vocationally certified as an Agriculture Education teacher.

·  Industry related background and experience in agriculture, horticulture or related fields.

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: High School Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Certificated employees are contracted for 180-work days plus additional professional development as stated in the OEA contract. There is a provision for an extended day contract to provide for FFA activities outside the scope of the Ag. Ed. Program. A comprehensive benefit package is included as outlined by the OEA contract.
