All players in the Open and Major Events must be registered with the Welsh Chess Union or their respective national body.

Round 1 – Friday 16th October 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.

Round 2 – Saturday 17th October 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.

Round 3 – Saturday 17th October 2.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Round 4 – Sunday 18th October 9.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.

Round 5 – Sunday 18th October 2.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.

Grading prize of £20 will be awarded at under 2000

MAJOR( Under 1850 ) Entry fee £20

Prizes 1st £150; 2nd £70; 3rd £35

Grading prize of £20 will be awarded at under 1650

MINOR( Under 1500 ) Entry fee adults £18 and juniors £16

Prizes 1st £120; 2nd £60; 3rd £30

Grading prize of £20 will be awarded at under 1300

CONGRESS RULES

Rates of play42 moves in 1 3/4 hours. After 42 moves both clocks to be

moved back 15 minutes and the games completed in the

time remaining.

ByePlayers may claim a ½ point bye in any of the first four rounds

provided it is requested with entry.

WithdrawalsRegrettably, refunds will not be considered until the cost

of overheads are met.

ExclusionsThe organizers reserve the right to exclude or transfer

entries.

PrizesOnly the highest prizes will be awarded to players eligible

for more than 1 prize. Organizers reserve the right to

adjust prize levels up or down depending on the level

of entry.

Late arrivalsWill be allowed 1 hour in all rounds and then defaulted and repairing may take place after 30 minutes.

JuniorsMust be under 18 on 1st September 2009.

GradingThe 2009 WCU Grading List ( and equivalent BCF or

other federation list will be used throughout the

tournament. Ungraded players are ineligible for any

prizes in the MAJOR and MINOR sections.

IN ALL MATTERS THE CONTROLLER’S DECISIONS ARE FINAL.
