The next Public Relations Subcommittee meeting is scheduled for the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 206 E 11th at 7:30.

NOTE: please forgive the format and potential omissions in the attached minutes. I was not in attendance and compiled the minutes based on notes from the new NYCASC Secretary elect.

Steering Committee Minutes:

H&I – Met yesterday(Sat.5/15).No literature ordered.Chair directed that H&I literature be ordered from NAWS, with a check given today for $250.Separate order from Area Literature Sales. Clarity sought thought if needed in the future, order will be done together.

LITERATURE SALES – Will motion for $250 to order from NAWS.Has literature for Groups to pick up from last month.Has literature in stock.

HELPLINE – Quarterly Meeting June 6, for all members.

PI – Met 4/20 – 8 members.Lists of schools, precincts, parks in community.Poster Drive – Posters needed:motion will be made for funding.Locating Policy for PI rotating fund – seeks to submit a budget.= $95 start-up.Revised after,and annual needsreportrequired.

CHAIRPERSON – Willing to stay on until Chair position filled.Vice-Chair will not remain.

·  Discussed how to maintain current Chair (month-to-month, etc.) – open to the GSRs.

·  Birthday Bash Financial Report circulated:Profit $3,306.12

·  Region in dire financial straits.$20,000 debt – Office space may close.

·  Suggestion from RCM to send donation to Region vs. World from BB.

·  Policy to donate 50% of BB profits to NAWS.Can revisit for possible one-time basis.

RCM – CAR Report Motion tallies available.Results to GSRs.RSO unable to order literature, no orders accepted – scaling back (put amount in hat at Region for $1200) also requesting Groups do same.Regional event scheduled forJune 25to raise funds.Perhaps basketball game, karaoke, one more planned.Almost all commitments are open at Region.Vote needed on RD and RDA.

·  RSC has not paid $2300 rent for 3 months.

·  Possible NYCASC pay lump sum insurance payment to RSO.

TREASURER – Made amends.Had incorrect balances due to errors from Nov. and Dec. Met with former Treasurers Sally and Evelyn for help.Emailed May Treasury Report to Asst. this morning.

·  April Bank Balance $9,496.36.Working Balance 5,910.54

·  Concerns re: absence of Treasurer and procedures in place to pay bills in these events.

·  Treasurer stated that he did not want to put out false balance statements.Followed the procedure to meet with Chair the next day for check signing for current month.

2:19 – Administrative Reports:

Roland – Chair Report:

·  Greater NY Region is ~$20,000 in debt and cannot buy literature until this is reduced to $10,000. They may need to close the office as a consequence.

·  Birthday Bash profits were $3,306.12, with planned donations of 50% to Region and 50% to World.

·  Note: the group proposed the possibility of donating 100% to Region.

·  As of the end of this Subcommittee Meeting, there is no official NYCASC Area Chair.

·  3 payments remain on the insurance

Tony - Vice-Chair Report: absent

Evon - RCM Report:

·  There is no literature in the RSO due to debt. This is a dire state of affairs.

·  There will be a fundraiser to raise $10,000 which would enable us to buy literature again for the RSO.

·  So far $1,277 has been raised by passing a hat.

·  There will be an emergency meeting June 11

Craig – Alt. RCM:

·  Set up an ad hoc committee to raise funds for region. The goal is to raise $40,000 for the debt from Areas, $10,000 to order literature and $20,000 to get to where we’d feel comfortable.

3:03 – GSR Group Reports:

·  Midtown Matinee – Alt. GSR: Kevin, meets MTWF 1pm 209 Madison Ave. Meeting attendance low, needs support. Donating $54.

·  Just for Today – GSR: Luz C, meets Sunday at 4:30, 743 E 9th St. The group will; be celebrating 31 years on June 24. Meeting will be 4:30-6pm – food, fellowship, fun until 7pm. Luz to bring the flyer to next Area. Forgot to include the logo for the flyer, hence the delay. The group’s member, Cesar, will be celebrating 19 years on Sunday May 29. Donating $15.

·  ABC Steps to Life – meets Wed 8:30 E 11th St between 2nd and 3rd Aves. Due to rent being raised and slight disruption (2x no meetings due to movie being filmed) we are starting to explore other places to meet. We voted not to include new wording in our burning desires policy. No donation.

·  Bleecker St. – GSR: Thalia F, meets Tues 8pm on Baxter St (@ Canal). Nothing to report. Donating $44.

·  You Get What You Need – GSR: Daniel A, meets Friday 7:30pm at 400 E 87th St. New chair – Anita. No dontation.

·  Village Spiritual Worshop – GSR: Cristine B, meets Mon 6:30-7:45 at Middle Collegiate Church. Nothing to report. No donation.

·  Cover to Cover – GSR: Danielle R, meets Monday 7pm at 25 Carmine. Elections in June. All is well. No donation.

·  NA Unity – GSR: Nick F, meets Sunday at 6pm at 206 E 4th St, Group is running strong. Approx. 30 in attendance. Elections were held and all positions were filled. Donation sent independently.

·  ABC to Recovery – GSR: Nam S, meets 6:30-7:45 at 206 E 11th St. Group growing and doing well. No donation.

·  Freedom Group – GSR: Jim, meets Friday 7-8:30pm at 630 E 6th St. We are in need of support and trusted servants. Attendance is small but steady. Donating $19.

·  No Authority – GSR: Dominic D, meets Thurs 8:15-9:15pm at 41st and 10th Ave. Had new elections for positions. Dominic = Secretary, Vinny = Hospitality, Joe & Kat = Co-Chairs. Donation mailed.

·  Recovery in the Lower – GSR: Eric, meets Thursday 7pm at 630 E 6th St. We’re collecting for our group anniversary. No date has been set. Donating $45.61 and $31.

·  Finally Found a Home – GSR: Paul M, meets Friday 8:30pm at 50 E 7th St. Group is doing well. No donation.

·  Living Free – GSR: Denise, meets M-F 1-2pm at 334 E 14th St. Elections in June – all positions open. Desperate for trusted servants. Donating $283.

·  Recovery in the 80s – GSR: Teddy M, meets Mon 8-9:30pm on W 82nd. Regular attendance, celebrating group anniversary of 29 years on Monday, May 23rd. No donation.

·  Recuperacion for Today – GSR: Laureen C, meets Friday 6:45-8:15pm at 206 E 11th St. There are no donations this month for business meeting this coming Friday. No donation.

·  Recurring Themes – GSR: Joyce L. Nothing to report. No donation.

·  Breaking the Chains – GSR: Doyle R, meets Wed 7:q5pm at 130 E 25th St. Nothing to report. Donating $44.

·  Green & Gold Group – GSR: Rich, meets Tues at 6:30pm at 220 E 76th St. Nothing to report at group level or with meeting, but we have a donation of $60 to five to the area and a donation of $60 to give to the region.

·  Seize the Day Group – Alt. GSR: Rich P, meets Thurs at 6:30pm at 220 E76th St. Donating $60 to Area and $60 to Region.

·  PI committee met Wed April 20. 8 were in attendance. ·  Discussed the possibility of the next poster drive in our Area at the Clinton 9th St. Ave D Housing Projects – date was discussed and will be finalized pending coordination with other Areas and re-ordering of supplies. NO CLEAN TIME NEEDED TO PARTICIPATE IN POSTER DRIVE. Practice the principles of the 12th Step and the 5th Tradition and post the helpline number in the community to help addicts find a meeting.

·  Misinformation printed in the New York Times article was discussed at last Regional PI Call (4/19). The consensus was to draft and submit corrections. A draft of the corrections was reviewed at the last subcommittee meeting (attached).

·  Tradition Two as it related to PI was discussed

·  OPEN POSITIONS: LEGAL & JUDICIAL COORDINATOR – give presentations to precincts, courts and the Dept. of Probation, EDUCATION COORDINATOR – give presentations to classes in schools and do table sittings, H&I LIAISON – coordinate info with H&I Subcommittee, COMMUNITY COORDINATOR – conduct town hall meetings, meet with public officials and participate in health and set up tables for street fairs.

Americo - Literature Distribution Chair Report:

·  Did not see reports. Will add as correction in June Minutes.

Kathleen - Hospitals and Institutions:

·  20 people in attendance. $0 spent on literature this month. $18.79 spent on secretary revolving funds.

·  All new terms began this month with the exception of the Chair position for Anthony when he is elected today.

·  All commitments are filled or being covered.

·  We are placing a financial motion for the approval of our literature budget of $250 per month for the next six months in line with the H&I Subcommittee Policy.

·  For website: H&I meets the 2nd Saturday of each month at 1:00pm at 154 Christopher St.

Jim – Helpline:

·  We are reaching out to homebound and disabled people for orientations. Our next meeting, which is a quarterly meeting, which all volunteers are supposed to attend, either in person on online, is Mon. June 6 at 7pm at 154 Christopher St.
