Choir Information Letter & Registration Form: Grades 4-8
It’s time to join the school choir!
Here are a few things that SFB students have said about choir:
“A kid should join choir because they can learn how to read music. I am in choir because I like to sing! I also like that we sing at school masses and learn Christian music.” 5th grade student
“You could become famous, or become a singing teacher. I think you should join choir because you can learn new things.” 4th grade student
To join choir, complete the attached registration form and return it to the office, to the attention of Ms. Delgado-Schaumberg. Keep this information page for your calendar.
Registration for choir means that you give permission for your student to participate in all of the masses, performances, and rehearsals.
Rehearsal schedule:
Wednesdays, 4:30-5:30 pm, beginning August 30, 2017.
3:00 p.m Students who report to HW Club or Extended Careshould have their snack before 4:30.
4:20 p.m. Mr. Elliott or Mrs. Matter will collect choir students from extended care and escort them to the Convent.
Students should bring water, a folder, and a pencil to rehearsal.
Eating in the Convent rehearsal area is not allowed, per Father McCain.
4:30-5:30 rehearsal for mass and performances – learn and polish music including singing in 2 parts.
Please know that we strongly discourage students from missing more than 3 rehearsals per semester. We find that this has a detrimental impact on the overall sound of the group.

Please know that some performances, services and rehearsals will be mandatory. Mandatory services, performances and rehearsals will be noted with an *.
Please alert your sports coaches of any scheduling conflicts.

*August 31, 2017, Back to School Night – Choir opens the meeting with 1 song and will then be released to parents.
*(Early September date TBD) – Choir sings for Opening Day School Prayer service
*December 2, 2017 – Advent Concert rehearsal with musicians and adult choir
*December 3, 2017 - Advent Concert – SFB school choir and St. Finn Barr Adult Choir
*May 15, 2018 - Choral/Piano/Guitar student Spring Showcase
