- Communicate with the coach and parents
- The most important thing is communicating with your coach and parents.
- Email is a great way to keep in contact with the team.
- Be sure all events are approved by the coach first.
- Recruit help when needed
- Be sure to ask parents for help with the snack bar, feeding the athletes, fundraising, and other items.
- Websites to reference
- Team contact info
- Request a copy of the team roster from the coach.
- Request contact info from the parents. You will want the following information: Athlete name, Athlete jersey number, Athlete grade, Mother’s Name, Father’s name, phone number, and email address
- Team captains are also a good source of information.
- Snack Shack duties
- Each team is assigned snack shack duties. You will receive your assignment dates from the team parentcoordinator.
- You are responsible for making sure there is coverage for your team.
- You usually need between 3-5 volunteers.
- The team will usually cover 2-3 games per season.
- Rosters
- This is optional and is done on a team by team basis.
- Most parents like to have a list of players and their jersey numbers.
- This roster can be laminated to last the whole season.
- Team Photos
- The coach will inform you of the picture date.
- Be sure each parent has a copy of the order form before picture day.
- Remind parents that the form along with payment is due on picture day.
- Hand out pictures when they come in.
- Pasta parties/Tailgates
- Many teams like to get together the night before a big game and load up on carbs.
- This is a great team bonding activity that can be done every week or just before certain games.
- Tailgates can be planned before games. Be sure to communicate with the coach.
- Pre-game food
- Some teams like to provide pre-game food or snack. Talk with your coach to see what is preferred.
- You will need help setting up and feeding the team.
- You can either collect money from the parents at the beginning of the season or do an assignment sheet.
- Be sure the athletes clean up after they eat.
- Post-game snack
- Talk to the coach to see what is preferred.
- This is optional and can be done on a team by team basis.
- Senior Night
- Traditionally this is scheduled for the last home game.
- The parents on the team will want to make posters for their senior athlete.
- Some teams provide a senior bio booklet. You will want to get all the senior information to include in this booklet.
- Photos
- Recruit parents to take pictures of the athletes during the game to share with the team.
- Team Banquet
- Check with the coach for the team banquet date.
- You will need to plan ahead for the location as the school cafeteria books up fast.
- The banquet can be catered or set up as a pot luck.
- Coach’s gifts
- If planning on giving the coach a year end gift, you will want to collect money from each parent.
- The gift can be given to the coach at the yearend banquet.
- Fundraising
- You will be responsible for coordinating the fundraising for the team.
- The fundraisers will be pre-determined by the coach with the approval of the AD.
- LHS Athletic Boosters
- The mission of the Athletic Boosters is to provide funding to support the Liberty Athletic Programs.
- Encourage your parents to come to the Athletic Boosters meetings and become a member.
- Each team donates a basket to raffle at the annual LHS Athletic Boosters Bull Roast which is traditionally held in February. You will need to collect donations from your team to make this basket
- Homecoming Parade
- Help organize the team float for the Homecoming Parade.
- Some teams do a float and other teams just walk in the parade.
