Team Parent Checklist

  1. Communicate with the coach and parents
  2. The most important thing is communicating with your coach and parents.
  3. Email is a great way to keep in contact with the team.
  4. Be sure all events are approved by the coach first.
  5. Recruit help when needed
  6. Be sure to ask parents for help with the snack bar, feeding the athletes, fundraising, and other items.
  7. Websites to reference
  8. Team contact info
  9. Request a copy of the team roster from the coach.
  10. Request contact info from the parents. You will want the following information: Athlete name, Athlete jersey number, Athlete grade, Mother’s Name, Father’s name, phone number, and email address
  11. Team captains are also a good source of information.
  12. Snack Shack duties
  13. Each team is assigned snack shack duties. You will receive your assignment dates from the team parentcoordinator.
  14. You are responsible for making sure there is coverage for your team.
  15. You usually need between 3-5 volunteers.
  16. The team will usually cover 2-3 games per season.
  17. Rosters
  18. This is optional and is done on a team by team basis.
  19. Most parents like to have a list of players and their jersey numbers.
  20. This roster can be laminated to last the whole season.
  21. Team Photos
  22. The coach will inform you of the picture date.
  23. Be sure each parent has a copy of the order form before picture day.
  24. Remind parents that the form along with payment is due on picture day.
  25. Hand out pictures when they come in.
  26. Pasta parties/Tailgates
  27. Many teams like to get together the night before a big game and load up on carbs.
  28. This is a great team bonding activity that can be done every week or just before certain games.
  29. Tailgates can be planned before games. Be sure to communicate with the coach.
  30. Pre-game food
  31. Some teams like to provide pre-game food or snack. Talk with your coach to see what is preferred.
  32. You will need help setting up and feeding the team.
  33. You can either collect money from the parents at the beginning of the season or do an assignment sheet.
  34. Be sure the athletes clean up after they eat.
  35. Post-game snack
  36. Talk to the coach to see what is preferred.
  37. This is optional and can be done on a team by team basis.
  38. Senior Night
  39. Traditionally this is scheduled for the last home game.
  40. The parents on the team will want to make posters for their senior athlete.
  41. Some teams provide a senior bio booklet. You will want to get all the senior information to include in this booklet.
  42. Photos
  43. Recruit parents to take pictures of the athletes during the game to share with the team.
  44. Team Banquet
  45. Check with the coach for the team banquet date.
  46. You will need to plan ahead for the location as the school cafeteria books up fast.
  47. The banquet can be catered or set up as a pot luck.
  48. Coach’s gifts
  49. If planning on giving the coach a year end gift, you will want to collect money from each parent.
  50. The gift can be given to the coach at the yearend banquet.
  51. Fundraising
  52. You will be responsible for coordinating the fundraising for the team.
  53. The fundraisers will be pre-determined by the coach with the approval of the AD.
  54. LHS Athletic Boosters
  55. The mission of the Athletic Boosters is to provide funding to support the Liberty Athletic Programs.
  56. Encourage your parents to come to the Athletic Boosters meetings and become a member.
  57. Each team donates a basket to raffle at the annual LHS Athletic Boosters Bull Roast which is traditionally held in February. You will need to collect donations from your team to make this basket
  58. Homecoming Parade
  59. Help organize the team float for the Homecoming Parade.
  60. Some teams do a float and other teams just walk in the parade.
