6 January 2016

Hello everyone

Thank you so much for the generous cards, gifts and good wishes. I hope that you all had a lovely Christmas and that it wasn’t spoiled by the flooding and poor weather.

Sadly, Mr Latimer and Mrs Whittle have not been able to return to school at the beginning of the term, due to illness. For the remainder of this week, Year 4 will be taught in the morning by Mrs Clayton (English and Maths). Afternoon sessions will be covered by staff known to the children, or one of our regular supply teachers (wherever possible). Further information relating to this cover will be given to Year 4 parents when available. I hope you will hold both Mr Latimer and Mrs Whittle in your prayers and wish them a speedy recovery. I would like to welcome Mrs Georgina Bahri, our new welfare assistant, who will join the team on Friday.

Well done to Reception and Year 1 who took part in the festive multi-skills events. Many schools took part and Year 1 scored 1st position with Reception coming 3rd - a superb achievement!

Wednesday 13 January will be our next PTFA meeting at the Golden Lion, Higher Wheelton, at 7 pm. Please come along if you can to support the hardworking team.

We start the term thinking about our school value of love as well as the Christian value of perseverance. Mark Chapter 12 verse 30:- Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.

Best wishes, Linda Clayton

Well done to Year 4, 5 and 6 who will be receiving a certificate from John Lewis for the work they did on “Space Day” regarding caring for older people in our communities. This work was linked to the John Lewis “man on the moon” Christmas advert and Age Concern.
