Team Selection

We have 4 teams in the Cheer Lions family:

Varsity Football- Coach Tanya Downs and Coach Ann Rodgers

Varsity Basketball- Coach Tanya Downs and Coach Ann Rodgers

JV Football & Basketball- Coach Laura Buchanan and TBD

9th Grade Football & Basketball- Coach Erica Rzepka and Coach Alyssa DeNicola

The coaching Staff will be evaluating applicants throughout the tryout week and will select candidates for teams based on performance (ability to perform cheers and chants at try-outs), motions (placement, sharpness), dance, showmanship, voice, jumps and flexibility, tumbling (if candidates have it), attitude, teamwork, work ethic, grade level, teacher recommendations. Please note any cheerleader trying out for a basketball squad will also have to perform a stomp routine during their tryout. Every effort will be made to place a cheerleader with his/her appropriate grade level, but we do leave the option open to move younger cheerleader up if a situation calls for that move to occur. Rising seniors can only be considered for a Varsity squad, while 9th grade students will only be considered for the JV or 9th Grade squad. The needs for each team will be evaluated and the candidates will be placed on teams based on the Coaches criteria. Previous participation in the Cheer Lions program does not guarantee a spot on one of our 2018-2019 squads.
