Visas
Depending on purpose there are the following types of visas:
1) Transit visa (В).
This type of visa is issued for the foreigners / stateless persons in case of transit travel through territory of Ukraine to the third state as well as transit transportation of cargo and passengers through Ukrainian territory by road transport.
Transit visa is issued as single-entry, double-entry and multiple-entry for the period indicated in the documents that are the grounds for granting of such visa. The validity of visa should not exceed 1 year unless other is prescribed by the international treaties of Ukraine. The duration of stay in Ukraine should not exceed 5 days during each transit trip through Ukrainian territory.
2) Short-term visa (C).
This type of visa is issued for the foreigners / stateless persons if their period of stay in Ukraine will not exceed 90 days during 180 days from the date of first entry to Ukraine.
Short-term visa is issued as single-entry, double-entry and multiple-entry for the period of 6 months or for the period indicated in the documents that are the grounds for granting of such visa but not more than for 5 years.
3) Long-term visa (D).
This type of visa is issued to the foreigners / stateless persons with the purpose to be granted residence permit with further possibility to stay in Ukraine more than 90 days.
Long-term visa is issued as single-entry and for 45 days only.
The following documents have to be submitted for visa (B, C or D):
1. Visa application (in English).
2. Passport + copy of page (pages) with personal data.
Passport requirements are as follows:
а) should be valid not less than 3 months after the declared date of exit from Ukraine;
б) should contain at least two blank pages;
в) should be issued not earlier than 10 years ago.
3. Two photos (size 3 х 4 cm).
4. Valid policy of medical insurance + copy.
5. Residence permit in Sweden + copy (not required for EU citizens).
6. Payment confirmation of visa fee.
7. For the persons under age of 18 there should be submitted a written consent of their parents / legal guardians or other documents confirming possibility for such persons to travel abroad alone or in accompaniment with one of the parents / legal guardians. Written consent should be notary attested, stamped with «Apostille» and duly translated into Ukrainian.
8. One of the below mentioned documents confirming the purpose of travel:
For visa B:
- document confirming transit purpose of travel (for example: visa to the third state, tickets, etc.);
- document confirming transit cargo or passengers transportations by road transport;
- license for international transportations issued by the competent authorities of the host state.
For visa С:
- special form of invitation that is issued by regional divisions of the State migration service of Ukraine;
- invitation that is issued by the ministry or other central governmental agency, institution, state company or organization;
- agreement on cargo and passengers transportation by road transport, as well as a license for international transportations;
- certificate of foreign Ukrainian; or his/her written statement attached with the documents (evidence) confirming the foreigner’s / stateless person’s Ukrainian ethnic origin or origin from Ukraine; a spouse of foreign Ukrainian as well as his/her children in case of their joint travel and stay in Ukraine should submit written statement attached with documents confirming family relationship;
- document confirming tourist purpose of travel according to the Act of Ukraine on Tourism, in particular :
a) contract for tourist services;
b) contract for hotel service (reception);
c) voucher;
d) game ticket for matches during European football championship in 2012;
- invitation from medical establishment of Ukraine;
- document confirming state registration of foreign investment into the economy of Ukraine (investment in foreign currency should not be less than 50000 USD);
- confirmation from the Commission on humanitarian aid of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine where it is stated that the foreigner / stateless person comes to Ukraine with the purpose to render humanitarian aid or to conduct charitable activity;
- invitation from the religious organization for a short-term stay in Ukraine with the purpose to conduct religious activity. Invitation should be approved by the state body of Ukraine that has registered such religious organization;
- written request from foreign mass-media company to issue visa for the foreign reporter or for the representative of foreign mass-media company who comes to Ukraine for a short-term with a purpose to conduct his/her official duties;
- written request from foreign state authorities or international organizations;
For visa D:
- duly attested copy of employment permit that is issued to the foreigner / stateless person by the State employment centre of Ukraine or its regional divisions;
- copy of decision on granting permission for migration that is taken by the regional divisions of the State migration service of Ukraine;
- permission that is granted by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to issue a visa for the family members of the person who has been given the status of refugee in Ukraine;
- original of invitation on studies and between 15th November - 15th August – support letter from the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sport of Ukraine;
- invitation from the state authority, company or organization that is the recipient of the project of international technical assistance;
- invitation from religious organization for a long-term stay in Ukraine with the purpose to conduct religious activity. Invitation should be approved by the state body of Ukraine that has registered such religious organization;
- invitation from duly registered in Ukraine representative office (branch, division etc.) of public (nongovernmental) organization of international state;
- invitation from duly registered in Ukraine representative office of the international business entity. Invitation should be approved by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine;
- invitation from duly registered in Ukraine representative office (branch) of international bank;
- written request from international mass media company. Such request should be approved by the State Committee of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine;
- document confirming the purpose of travel issued by the management responsible for organizing and holding of finals of the 2012 European Football Championship in Ukraine in accordance with the Law of Ukraine "On organization and holding of finals of the 2012 European Football Championship in Ukraine;
- written request from governmental authorities of international states or international organizations to issue visa for the representatives of diplomatic missions / consular posts / international organizations who come to Ukraine for a long term to fulfill their official duties, as well as for their family members;
- invitation from the appropriate Ukrainian state agency which is responsible for conducting cultural, educational, scientific or volunteer programs where the foreigner / stateless person is going to participate; invitation from volunteer organization that is duly registered in Ukraine;
- document confirming registered marriage with Ukrainian citizen (if such marriage was registered in the foreign state marriage certificate should by duly legalized or attested);
- document confirming family relationship with another foreigner / stateless person who is granted in Ukraine temporary or permanent residence permit (if such document is issued by the competent authorities of the foreign state it should be duly legalized / attested and translated into Ukrainian language. Translation should be also duly attested). Document confirming family relationship with the persons mentioned in this section should be attached with a copy of residence permit and with a document confirming sufficient financial means to support the family members;
- other documents if it is prescribed by the international treaties.
Documents referred in items 2, 4, 5 and 8 should by attached with copies.
Visa fees
-single entry visa – 85 USD;
-double entry visa – 130 USD;
-multiple entry visa – 200 USD;
-visa fees for citizens of some countries on reciprocity basis.
Double fee is charged for visa processing within 5 working days.
Submission and processing time
The foreigners and stateless persons should apply for short-term visa not earlier than 3 months before the estimated date of entry to Ukraine.
Visa processing time takes up to 15 days beginning from the date of submission of all required documents.
Visa processing time may be extended up to 30 days with the purpose for additional verification.
How to submit documents
The foreigners and stateless persons submit application for visa in the following ways:
- Personally;
- Trough representative who should have notary attested authorization letter from the applicant to submit and collect the documents;
- By mail. In this way there should be attached prepaid envelop with an applicant’s back address to send it back to the applicant as registered letter.
Useful information on visas
If necessary the consular officer can invite the foreigner / stateless person for interview and can request for additional documents to clarify the purpose of travel. These documents are:
- documents confirming booking or payment for housing, food etc.;
- letter of guarantee from the inviting side confirming that all expenses connected with the foreigner’s / stateless person’s stay in Ukraine and his / her exit from Ukraine will be covered by inviting side;
- other documents confirming that the foreigner / stateless person has sufficient financial means to stay in Ukraine during the planned period, has a possibility to return to the country of origin (country of permanent residence) or can go transit through the Ukrainian territory to the third country, or has a possibility to get legally sufficient financial support in Ukraine;
- documents that make possible to identify the intention of the foreigner / stateless person to leave Ukraine before the date of visa expiry (for example: tickets, bank statement, certificate from employer, real estate, family members etc.).
The total period of stay in Ukraine with visas B or C should not exceed 90 days during 180 days from the date of the first entry to Ukraine.
For the citizens of Australia, Albania, Guatemala, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Panama, Singapore, Turkey, Croatia short-term visa C is issued without invitations.
