JOB TITLE: HR Manager

LOCATION: Sparks, NV

SUMMARY

An innovative natural product’s manufacturing compan headquartered in Chicago, is seeking an HR Manager for their western operations in Sparks, Nevada. The HR Manager will provide Human Resources expertise and support to all areas by performing the following duties.

Manages, guides, and oversees human resource policies, programs, practices, and initiatives for the facility that supports the company’s strategic goals and core values.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Oversees the recruiting process. Sources, interviews, and hires qualified candidates to fill existing job openings. Provides guidance to hiring managers in the recruitment and interview process, including ensuring internal candidates are interviewed and provided with timely feedback. Meets all KPI’s and goals for recruiting function. Tracks recruiting metrics and reports in a timely manner. Recommends activities and process changes to make recruiting process more efficient. Ensures new hires are successfully on boarded.

Raises proactive issues with managers, identifies practical solutions to diverse issues and recommends appropriate actions. Promotes a culture of direct dealing and open communication. Investigates problems, such as employee conflicts and provides guidance and coaching to employees, supervisors and managers. Ensures timely feedback and resolutions to employee relations issues and timely reports. Conducts exit interviews and employee interviews with current employees; identifies trends and implements corrective actions and programs.

Supports the company’s safety program and helps build the safety culture. Oversees worker’s compensation claims handling and tracking.

Promotes and supports the company training and development efforts. Develops and delivers various supervisory and employee trainings to improve skillsets.

Oversees unemployment claims handling for the site. Participates in unemployment hearings and provides guidance to managers and supervisors.

Oversees the company’s leave of absence program for the site, including FMLA, disability, work-related and other leaves of absences.

Complies with safety and GMP requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises the HR team. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of seven years related experience. Advanced skills in interviewing techniques as well as extensive knowledge of personnel policy and procedure and federal and state laws regarding employment practices are required. PHR or SPHR certification strongly preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information. Oral and written bi-lingual skills in Spanish preferred.

Must have intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation. Excellent time management skills and the ability to effectively multi-task are essential. Must present a professional, positive image at all times.
