These schools are Jasper Place, Louis St. Laurent and Strathcona. We thank these schools for their support of this championship.

Registration Details:

1.  Registration must be completed using the online registration tool on the host website. The entry must be completed by 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2008. To complete the registration it must contain:

a.  Team Roster

b.  Team Picture (each player and coach identified by name)

c.  Team History/Season Summary

d.  Team Banquet ticket order

e.  Supplementary program order

Note: The team picture must identify each athlete and coach by name. It must be 5” X 7” and sent in JPEG format (minimum 3 mega pixel, maximum camera resolution, no digital zoom

Banquet:

Attendance at the banquet is compulsory for all team members and coaches. Please include the number of banquet tickets required on the Registration Information Sheet and Fee Sheet. Please register on-line on the host website. Banquet tickets are for athletes, managers, trainers, statisticians and coaches only. Remember the banquet is semi-formal – no sweats or jeans. Please ensure that your athletes are dressed appropriately.

Banquet will be held at the Delta Edmonton South Hotel. The program begins at 7:00 p.m.

Opening Ceremonies:

Opening Ceremonies will be at Harry Ainlay High School in the main gymnasium on Thursday, November 27, 2008 at 8:30 a.m. Teams are to be in the north gymnasium by 8:00 a.m. Athletes should be dressed in their game uniform or warm-ups. Information will be provided at the coaches’ meeting on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. at Harry Ainlay High School in the cafeteria.

Fees:

Entry Fee: $300.00 per team

Banquet Fee: $25.00 per person

Extra Programs: $1.00 per team member

All fees must be paid in full at your team picture appointment.

Tournament Apparel and Souvenirs:

Please encourage athletes to pre-order their tournament apparel on the night of registration after individual and team pictures are taken in the Harry Ainlay Art Gallery or before the banquet at the Delta Edmonton South Hotel.

Pictures:

ASAA requires a photograph of all teams for their yearbook. Team and individual pictures will be taken on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at Harry Ainlay High School in the Art Gallery. Times for pictures will be scheduled from 3:30 - 8:40 p.m. Please book your appointment by Monday, November 24, 2008 by 4:00 p.m. (Refer to the Team Picture Schedule sheet). Please arrive 10 minutes before your schedule appointment. Dress in game uniform or warm-ups. Each team will receive two complimentary 8” X 10” team pictures. Pictures and order information will be mailed to the school.

Coaches’ Meeting:

The coaches’ meeting will be held at Harry Ainlay High School on Wednesday,

November 26, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. Each team must be represented at this

meeting. The agenda will address tournament information, officiating, expectations,

appeal procedures and Opening Ceremonies.

Ø  Snacks will be provided.

Tournament Draw:

Refer to the tournament draw that is attached.

Maps:

Maps are provided for directions to all four venues from the Delta Edmonton South Hotel and from each venue. Refer to the maps.

Award Ceremonies:

Medal presentations will take place after each medal match at the venue where the match is played. An observing sportsmanship committee consisting of school staff will award individual sportsmanship pins throughout the tournament. The Provincial Sportsmanship Banner will be determined by the sportsmanship committee and the receiving team will be acknowledged prior to the presentation of the Gold Medal Championships.

Practice Times:

Practice times will be one hour per team. Practice time will be available at one of the four venues on Wednesday, November 26, 2008. You must book your own practice time by email on Monday, November 24, 2008. Times will be assigned on a first come first served basis beginning at 8:00 a.m. There are a limited number of practice times. Times must be booked by 4:00 p.m. Please refer to the Practice Schedule sheet.

Practice Balls:

Each team must provide their own clearly marked volleyballs for warm ups.

Minor Officials:

Minor officials for line judges and scorekeepers will be provided by students and junior volleyball athletes from each venue.

First Aid and Athletic Therapy:

First aid and athletic therapy will be provided by Advantage Sports Rehabilitation and Conditioning Ltd. - Dwayne Laing

First Aid personal will be provided at all four venues. If athletes require taping, medical first aid assistance or ice see the First Aid person in the gymnasium at the various venues. Tape, supplies and ice will be provided.

Concessions:

Each venue will provide a concession throughout the tournament. There are restaurants near each of the venues and the Delta Edmonton South Hotel. Please refer to maps for restaurants.

Coaches’ and Officials’ Lounge:

Each venue will host a Coaches’ and Officials’ lounge. Food and beverages will be available throughout the tournament.

Team Rooms:

Further information about Team rooms will be available at the Coaches’ meeting.

Hosts and Hostesses:

Each team will be provided with a host or hostess to assist your team during the 4A Volleyball Provincial Championships.

Venue Rules:

“Character Counts” – All student athletes, coaches and parents should be respectful, responsible and honest.

Ø  All venues are smoke-free facilities. Smoking by students, athletes, parents and spectators are not allowed in the building or on school property.

Ø  Harry Ainlay and the other venues are not responsible for any lost or stolen items. Please inform your teams to take care of their own personal belongings.

Ø  Please remind student athletes that during school hours on Thursday and Friday athletes should not be wondering through the halls at any of the venues. Please keep noise to a minimal in the hallways as regular classes are in session.

Ø  No volleyballs to be used outside of gymnasium i.e. rotunda, hallways etc.

Passes and programs may be purchased at all four venues.

A Grievance Committee will adjudicate any official complaints or protests. The Grievance Committee will consist of:

Breaches of ASAA Code of Ethics will be reported to the ASAA as required under the host site agreement. Breaches of the Code of Ethics include, but are not limited to: ejections, fighting, drug or alcohol use or other behaviour that results in dishonour to the athlete, the team, the school or the ASAA.
