New Features on TWE Website
If you haven’t checked out the TWE website recently, you might want to look at it again. There are two new features on it. First is a new section called "TWE Weather.” It's the second section on the menu bar. Here, you can click onto a link that gives you up to the minute temperature, humidity, dew point, etc. "right here in River City." Well, actually at Torrey Woods Estates.
Second, there's a new section entitled "Torrey Woods Estates Resales." This gives you an up to date profile of the houses that have been sold, are in escrow and are on the market in TWE. Thiscan be found in the Miscellaneous section.(Thanks toTWE resident Bruce Hammer for keeping this up to date for us.)
Also, did you know that there's a section(Classified)where you can list items for sale for free? (No, you cannot list Wives, Husbands, Teen Age childrenorMothers in Law)
And finally, there's a section called NeighborhoodProfessionals where, if you're aresident "professional" (or businessperson) and have services or merchandise for sale, you can advertise yourself and your services/merchandise free of charge. (Yes, there are someprofessions excluded from our family oriented Website.) We've been told we have one of the best HOA Websites in the whole durn world...and who are we to argue? - Bob Friedman, TWE Webmaster Editor

GATE CODE CHANGE
Sunday, October 29
As we’ve mentioned earlier this year, the TWE gate code will change at the same time as daylight saving time begins and ends. This year, Daylight Savings ends on Sunday, October 2.
The NEW GATE CODE will be:

The current one (5642) will remain in effect for three weeks (so both codes will work) until Sunday, November 19. Please inform all necessary parties, such as nannies, gardeners, and other frequent visitors.
HALLOWEEN PARTY
Sunday, October 29
Mark Your Calendar! The Halloween party for children is Sunday, October 29 from 3 – 5 pm. It will be held at Julie Herz’ home – which is the first home on the right, as you exit the community (the private home in the cul de sac when you exit the TWE community). There will be games and treats for the children – have them dress up in their costume!
WHAT’S GHOSTING?!!
Starting October 1st and ending on Halloween, we will be starting the Third Annual Ghosting Event. This event is a fun way to bring the neighborhood together and have some fun! This is how it works:
On Oct 1st, one house will be given a Halloween treat (candy, decorations, and/or small toys) on their door step. Their door bell will be rung and the secret ghost will run away.
With the gifts will be instructions and a picture of a ghost. Copy the instructions and ghost, shop for the house you are going to ghost, and ghost them as soon as possible. The faster the turnaround, the more homes that will get to participate.
The picture of the ghost is to be placed in a visible front window of your house. This will tell others that you have already been Ghosted.

TWE Ladies’ Group
Funco Nights!
The TWE Ladies Group has enjoyed seven Funco Nights with over 35 members. This group of women gets together once a month on the second Wednesday. The hostess of that month chooses the activity for Funco. We had a great time at Paris Mohager’s home in September. Thank you Paris!
The purpose of this group is to have fun with the girls. We have had Bunco, Bingo, Jewelry/Purse Parties, Ruth’s Chris Night, and appetizer parties. So far we have been successful in participation and enthusiasm of the hostesses.
If you would like to join the TWE Ladies’ Group, please email Donna Stewart at to be added to the mailing list. We are also looking for members to sign up to host months starting in January of next year! Let Donna know if you are interested!

Book Club
I am excited to say we have an awesome book club in Torrey Woods. With over 16 members, we have enjoyed sharing opinions and insight into different books we have read. The group meets the first Monday of the month and the book selection is varied and voted upon as a group. Some of the books we have read are:
“The Dogs of Babel”
“The Secret Lives and Many Sorrows of Josephine B.”
“Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons”
“The Time Traveler’s Wife”
“Saturday”
