TITLE OF JOB:Alternative Provision Autism Lead

LOCATION:Primary Behaviour Partnership Tier 4 and 5 provision based at our Acorn Centre

GRADE:H7

HOURS:14 hours a week (flexible hours mainly within the school day)

REPORTS TO: Provision Lead/ teacher of Acorn provision

LOCATION:Various (within DSPL9)

Full driving license and use of fully insured car is essential

REASON JOB EXISTS

To coordinate and liaise with a range of agencies involved with alternative provision for identified primary aged children who are deemed at high risk of permanent exclusion or who have been permanently excluded. The Alternative Provision has been developed in response to local identified needs. To support children, schools and families where children have autism or significant traits of autism.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

To work effectively with the provision lead/ teacher.

To work collaboratively with all members of the team to support identified children

To work with and support schools in raising awareness of attachment needs and how to support these

To support families of children accessing our provision

To deliver training to schools and families

To work collaboratively with our family advocate

To attend meetings as requested by the lead teacher, the preparation of reports and following up any actions

To administer first aid to pupils as needed

To support the work of the CAT from HCC

To develop effective relationships with health including SALT, CAMHS and Paediatricians

Any other areas within grading of post

This post is classed as having a high degree of contact with children or vulnerable adults and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES AND TRAINING

Education, Training and Professional Qualifications

Educated to level 3, equivalent qualifications or proven work experience to that level

Experience and qualifications related to Autism (or a willingness to undertake)

Experience of working with children and families

Experience of working effectively with other agencies

Background in education, social or health care or community development

First Aid certificate

Good understanding of the Health and Safety at work Act 1974

Excellent IT skills

Organisation and planning

Good listening and communication skills – maintaining confidentiality

The ability to build good relationships with hard to reach individuals/ families

Evidence of working effectively within a team

Adaptability and problem solving

A non-judgemental approach

Confidence to devise and deliver training for parents/ carers and professionals
