Students will create a book jacket or movie trailer related to the novel they read. Students can read a novel of their choice for this project. The novel must be a book you have NOT read before. Books for this project MUST be approved by Friday April 20th. Please note that if you need a book from the library you must go during homeroom as we will not be visiting the library until May. This PROJECT is due on Wednesday, May 23rd!

BOOK JACKET:

Students will create a book jacket to promote the novel. The book jacket must include a cover, inside flaps, back and illustration inside:

ON THE COVER: Author's name, Title of book, Eye-catching illustration that leaves no white paper showing and reflects an important part of the book. This picture should reflect the main problem in the story along with having the main character included.

ON INSIDE LEFT FLAP: at least a two paragraph summary of the book (DO NOT reveal the ending) but trying to hook readers into wanting to read this book, eye-catching illustration that leaves no white paper showing.

ON INSIDE RIGHT FLAP: include information about the author; try to summarize important parts of his/her life and any interesting facts; eye-catching illustration that leaves no white paper showing.

Between the two inside flaps you need to draw something that reflects a scene from the book with the main character included. You only cover the area that is showing when the flaps are closed.

ON THE BACK: You must include: two to four opinions of the book - each opinion must include the name of a famous magazine, book critic, or an organization that reviews books; eye catching illustration.
