(Grade 6)
Number and Operations in Base Ten
Generalize place value understanding for multi-digit whole numbers.
CC.4.NBT.1
CC.4.NBT.2
CC.4.NBT.3 / Numbers and Operations in Base 1: Recognize that in a multi-digit number, a digit in one place represents 10 times as much as it represents in the place to its right and 1/10 of what it represents in the place to its left.
  • I can statements model, read, and write decimals to thousandths
/ The Number System
Compute fluently with multi-digit numbers and find common factors and multiples.
CC.6.NS.3
Numbers and Operations in Base Ten 3aRead, write and compare decimals to thousandths
a. Read and write decimals to thousandths using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form,
e.g., 347.392 = 3 x 100 + 4 x 10 + 7 x 1 + 3 x (1/10) + 9 x (1/100)
  • I can read and write decimals through thousandths

Number and Operations in Base Ten 3bRead, write and compare decimals to thousandths
b. Compare two decimals to thousandths based on meanings of the digit in each place, using >, =, and <
symbols to record the results of comparisons.
  • I can compare and order decimals to thousandths using place value

Number and Operations in Base Ten 4 Use place understanding to round decimals to any place.
  • I can round decimals to any place

Number and Operations in Base Ten 7 Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to hundredths, using concrete models or drawing and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used.
  • I can model decimals addition using base-ten blocks
  • I can model decimals subtraction using base ten-blocks
  • I can make reasonable estimates of decimal sums and differences.
  • I can add decimals using place value.
  • I can subtract decimals using place value.
  • I can identify, describe, and create numeric patters with decimals.
  • I can solve problems using the strategy make a table.
  • I can choose a method to find a decimal sum or differences.

Each day the math block will begin with 15 minutes of Daily Math Review and Mental Math. The focus of DMR should be either prerequisite standard skills or previous chapter concepts that were not mastered. The focus of mental math should be based on the current Chapter’s skills and concepts. Adjust the amount of questions in DMR and MM to fit into the 15 minute time block.
