Henderson Citytechnically: BarrettManualTrainingHigh School.
They were the Purple Flashes, Purple Flash or just Flash.
In the fall of 1976, Henderson City was absorbed by Henderson County...leaving the latter as the only high school in the county and one of the largest H.S.’s in the state.

In 1928, Henderson won the Western Kentucky Conference by “going undefeated against Kentucky opponents”, though the Flash was tied by Sturgis 12-12. (I would suppose...by the wording...that an Evansville team beat them.)
HendersonCity’s last stadium opened in 1934.
A. B. “Happy” Chandler, former commissioner of Major League Baseball, was a native of Corydon in HendersonCounty.
------
The above scores...from 1926-1975...were gathered by me and have been verified as correct.
(I went through the Madisonville Messenger day-by-day from 1973 back through 1926 to get my findings...double checking each score as I went. I broadcast the last two Maroons vs. Flash games in 1974 and 1975. One aside...the last down of the last game was never played. Fog had rolled in off the Ohio River, and with 13 seconds to go and Madisonville in possession, the officials called a halt to the proceedings.)
Prior to 1926 there were a few discrepancies...and I have them listed below.
------
If my composite sources agreed on a game score, it is listed only in the left column. When there were differences, I listed them in the following columns. An “x” in the left column means no one had a game score for that year.
Column AElmer Kelley, sports editor of The Messenger in October 17, 1947, had the list of scores on the left as the all-time series between Madisonville & Henderson City.
Column BJim Griesch, sports editor of the Messenger in the 1980’s, used a lot of yearbooks in his research to try to find all of Madisonville’s football scores.
Column CThese scores came from a Henderson source covering 1911 through 1949, but I didn’t write down what that source was. Years later I recall it as a book on H.H.S. football history. Long
time Henderson sports enthusiast Jim Bates supposes it was from a book written by Jack
Hudgeons, longtime sports editor of the Henderson Gleaner.
(((I don’t have the yearly final records for Henderson.)))
