Rip the Duck Tournament Rules
●Players shall NOT participate without registering an appropriately signed waiver for the tournament. These should be turned in by the team Coach.
●Game format is 10 v 10 for U14, 12, 10.
●7v7 plus goalie for u8
●Duration –40 minute, running clock games (two 20 minutes halves) 1 minute halftime, and (1) 45 second timeout per half. No time outs last 2 minutes of games.
●No OT in pool play. Ties stand as follows.
○5 points for Win
○2 points for Tie
○0 points for Loss.
●In Championship and bracket games, there will be one three-minute sudden death overtime period. If winner is still not determined teams will play a braveheart. 3 man (plus goalie) braveheart. There will be no substitutions or timeouts in braveheart, except in case of injury, team may substitute, including opposing team.
●Tie breaker format for pool play is
○ 1) Points
○2) Head to Head Record
○3) Goals Allowed
○4) Goal Differential
○5) Goals Scored
●If three or more teams have some point total, the tie breaker will be applied until a team or teams are eliminated. Then the tiebreaker will be applied without the eliminated teams.
●Players are not allowed to double roster, unless specified with Tournament Director.
●Running clock for ALL games and games and will start on time. Clock does not stop unless significant injury occurs.
●All players must have the proper equipment
○a. Mouth guards, shoulder pads, elbow pads, helmet, gloves, and stick.
●Onsides
○a. Team must have 4 players total in the defensive zone at all times
●Maximum of 4 long stick players on the field at once
●No horns, sideline substitutions on the fly and after goals are scored.
●Stalling-Last 5 minutes of a game: If a team possesses for 60 seconds without shooting, a “stall” warning will be called.
●Face-offs – After each goal, if a team is down by more than 7, that team starts with possession after each goal scored until differential is <7.
●Penalties will be called by the referee as needed and implement the proper allotted penalty time.
●a. Time will not start until the player takes a knee in the box
●b. The player is released when his time has expired
●c. Penalties are time and half
○1. Technical Fouls: 45 seconds
○2. Person fouls: 1.5 minutes
●Parents are NOT allowed in the bench area.
●Each team must wear matching jerseys
●All sticks must meet NFHS specifications.
○a. Six foot poles are only allowed at U14 and U12 levels. No poles allowed at U10 and u8.
●Flagrant Fouls – the referee is the only one that can determine this
○a. 1st offense – expulsion from the game
○b. 2nd offense – expulsion from the tournament
●U14 Division has 4 seconds in the crease. 20 seconds to clear half line and 10 seconds to advance into box.
●U12 Division has 4 seconds in the crease. 20 seconds to clear half line and 10 seconds to advance into box.
●U10/8 Division has 4 seconds in the crease and unlimited time to clear half line.
