ASENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THEJOHNSTONEDGEFIELDTRENTON MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR ITS UNDEFEATED SEASON AND FOR CAPTURING THE 2011 REGION CONFERENCE TITLE.

Whereas, ready for the challenge, the JohnstonEdgefieldTrenton(J.E.T.) Middle School boys basketball team defeated all comers to capture the 2011 Regional Conference title; and

Whereas, having postedan outstanding 120 for the season, the J.E.T. Eagles and their jubilant fans savored the sweet victory; and

Whereas,making that sweet victory even sweeter, the Eagles took home the top prize for the first time in the history of boys basketball at JohnstonEdgefieldTrenton; and

Whereas, Head Coach Edward Nicholson and Assistant Coach Teresa Martin, with grueling practices, hard work, and determination, built their basketball program into a championship team that refused to settle for second best; and

Whereas, JohnstonEdgefieldTrentonshowed its mettle in averaging 46.3 points per game and allowing only 28 points to be scored against them during the season; and

Whereas, the team that compiled this superb record includes Keati Buchanan, Shuron Burt, GerardricDobbs, Damion Edwards, MarineLee, Dante Stover, Jeremy Carroll, Sylvester Clark, DaquariusJohnson, Demarcus Lankford, ShunquezLee, Deontrez Mealing, RichardPadgett, Chad Stevens, and TyreeStidem; and

Whereas, the Eagles have brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of young men. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, recognize and commend the JohnstonEdgefieldTrenton (J.E.T.) Middle School boys basketballteam for its undefeated season and for capturing the 2011Regional Conference title.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Principal Stephen Hampton and Coach Edward Nicholson of JohnstonEdgefieldTrentonMiddle School.
