Teacher Summer Camp: Discover Your Inner Child Mon–Fri/June 13–17, 9 am – 4 pm

Discover northeast Ohio’s cultural institutions—including the Cleveland Museum of Art, Severance Hall, MOCA Cleveland, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Cleveland Botanical Garden, and more—in this multiday summer camp for teachers. Visit two institutions each day and engage in hands-on activities to investigate resources for you and your students. $230. Recommended for teachers PreK-3rd grade. Workshop fee includes some supplies, parking, and transportation between some institutions (lunch on your own).

Monday, June 13, 9:00-12:00- Cleveland Museum of Natural History

Learn how to harness the power of the picture book to develop fun, inquiry-based science investigations for your young scientists. Participate in hands-on activities and take home valuable resources, including your very own trilobite mold!

Monday, June 13, 1:00-4:00- Lake View Cemetery

Tour the James A. Garfield Memorial and Wade Memorial Chapel, and discover Cleveland history through some of the stories of people buried at Lake View Cemetery. Enjoy the sculpture tied to the monuments at the cemetery. Test your knowledge with our scavenger hunt, and create your own art with headstone rubbings.

Tuesday, June 14, 9:00-12:00- Nature Center of Shaker Lakes

Nature exploration can be a great vehicle to cover science standards, and almost all the early learning content standards depending on the topic. Learn how to make any day a field trip day by exploring the soils and outdoors around your classroom.

Tuesday, June 14, 1:00-4:00- Cleveland Museum of Art

Uncover connections between visual art and core curriculum areas as you explore resources for teachers and students. Discover ways to engage with artworks as you complete hands-on explorations in the CMA galleries and put on white gloves to handle authentic works of art.

Wednesday, June 15, 9:00-12:00- Cleveland Orchestra

Visit Severance Hall to channel your inner musician and unlock your creativity through musical play. Teachers will leave with strategies for infusing music with other areas of the core curriculum in age-appropriate ways, and a deeper knowledge of one of University Circle’s most historic landmarks.

Wednesday, June 15, 1:00-4:00- Cleveland Botanical Garden

Explore the interactive treehouses while learning about the resources available at Cleveland Botanical Garden. Teachers will participate in tours of the 10 acres of outdoor gardens and indoor Glasshouse while learning how to engage students in plant-based science lessons.

Thursday, June 16, 9:00-12:00- Cleveland History Center

Romp through history while sampling our programs. Experience stories through play and create a comic strip to end your stay!

Thursday, June 16, 1:00-4:00- Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland (MOCA)

Investigate MOCA's architecture with fun and engaging STEAM activities, test all new early childhood ArtSquad experiences, and exercise your close looking skills in Mark Mothersbaugh: Myopia.

Friday, June 17, 9:00- 12:00- Dunham Tavern Museum

Tap into our history at Dunham Tavern Museum and encounter an 1824 lifestyle by exploring every nook and cranny. Wander through paths of urban adventures, summer garden patterns, and learn how to capture the spirit.

Friday, June 17, 1:00-4:00- Yellow House

Wrap up your week by visiting the Yellow House gardens adjacent to the Dunham Tavern Museum.
