The JRC provides services for middle schools to start a Law Academy program. The instructional program services include course materials, course sequences, content-area professional development for teachers, and technical support at the school site. Included in a Law Academy is the opportunity to participate in law-related applied learning activities such as: a Moot Court; a simulated Bill of Rights hearing; and a Mock Trial. Through the JRC service, students will have numerous opportunities for interaction with the legal community and exposure to careers in law-related professions. Professional development and law-related course materials are interdisciplinary.
What does this Justice Resource Center program provide?
Instructional Component
CurriculumThe JRC will provide course materials to schools to develop curriculum for each age group and law-related class. Interdisciplinary and ELL materials will be provided. / Student Activities
The JRC will provide students with the opportunity for simulated congressional hearings, culminating events, public policy portfolios, and field visits to court. / Enhancement to Classroom Learning
The JRC will assist with finding and scheduling guest speakers.

The JRC will identify willing law professionals to support the development of the law academy.

On-site program supportStaff will make periodic site visits and assist with involving parents and the school community in the implementation of the program. / Professional Development

Teachers will meet regularly with JRC staff, as well as teachers from other law-related academies.

How do I purchase internal services?
- In Galaxy, create a new line for object code 0998, Internal Services and schedule the appropriate funds. Please note that funds will be available in FAMIS after approximately 24 hours.
- Log into FAMIS.
- Go to Purchasing.
- Go to Contracted.
- Go to E-Catalog.
- Click Internal Services and enter your school-specific budget information as prompted.
- Enter the Item Number(above) for the service you would like to purchase.
- Completing the purchase order sends a request for the service directly to the internal service provider.
- The internal service provider must approve your service request before funds are encumbered.

Cancellation Policy
- To receive a refund, schools must cancel their purchase order within one week of JRC approving it in FAMIS. An administrative fee will be charged for each cancelled purchase order.
