Position overview
Churches of Christ in Queensland is a church and community organisation that includes a group of mainstream Christian churches and a range of care and community services. We have been an active part of the Queensland community for more than 130 years and are a significant presence within Queensland with over 200 services in more than 100 communities. We also work in partnership with Churches of Christ in Victoria and Tasmania to provide care services in those states.
We exist to bring the light of Christ into communities. This is our mission. Through our local churches and care and support services, we touch tens of thousands of lives each year. The Business Support Officer has responsibility for providing administrative/business support services for a Community Care service and team and working closely with the Seniors Living Customer Service Centre team to ensure local processes align with and link to the broader Community Care operations.
The position contributes as an integral member of the Seniors and Supported Living group and supports activities aligned with the strategic direction of and consistent with the mission and values of Churches of Christ in Queensland.
Key result area / Responsibility
Operational /
  • Maintain daily processes to schedule and validate staff rounds and contractor services to meet client service needs, respond initially to payroll queries, generate reports to assist the service with monitoring and managing staff schedules and contractor services.
  • Action client, contractor and staff enquiries, referrals and requests received at the service.
  • Provide professional and comprehensive administration support to the service team, including management of information to quality accreditation standards and management of stock/material resources.
  • Support the service’s financial processes including managing petty cash, contractor transactions, client statement validation; liaison with the Seniors Living Customer Service Centre; other financial support as required.

  • Comply with any legislative requirements and assist in ensuring any reporting requirements are met.

  • Comply with legislation and organisational policy and procedures and take reasonable care to ensure that actions and omissions do not impact on the health and safety of others.

Selection criteria
SC 1 / Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential
  • Minimum Certificate III in Business Administration or equivalent.

SC 2 / Experience
Required
  • Minimum demonstrated experience in an administration/business support role within the community services environment (or similar).

SC 3 / Technical Competence
  • Intermediate computer skills with the ability to use Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

SC 4 / Personal History
Possess a current National Police Certificate – or the ability to acquire.
SC 5 / Communication
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

SC 6 / Service delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver quality services underpinned by continuous improvement to meet the needs of stakeholders.
