To encourage academic preparation in higher education, Litchfield Park Rotary is offering a Scholarship for high school seniors based on high academic achievement, leadership roles and community involvement.

A total of 4 scholarships are available. There is one scholarship that is awarded for three additional years at $500 per year for four years a total of $2,500. Due to the availability of funds and number of applications received, amounts awarded to each individual may vary and will be at the discretion of the Rotary Club of Litchfield Park.

Requirements:

______• Millennium High School Senior, graduating in 2016

______• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree.

Applicant must submit a scholarship package with the following:

______• Official transcript from high school currently attending including senior grades to-date

______• Minimum of 25 Volunteer hours signed off for 2015-2016 years on attached Service Volunteer Form

______• Two reference letters from non-family members (one must be an academic reference)

______• Proof of acceptance into an accredited education program

Scholarship The student has 3 options to apply for the Litchfield Scholarships.

OPTION 1- Written

Include a Title page plus 2 pages of writing 12 font Double Spaced:

1. Introduce and describe any of your volunteer sites in detail. Who does this organization serve? What role do they play in the lives of children/families? What issues are being addressed? Why is their work important? (do not use “I” in this first paragraph.)

2.Summarize your experience from one day to multiple days. What roles did you play? What was you most memorable experience while volunteering?

3.How did you apply what you were learning in class to your service volunteer experience? Try to give examples that relate and connect to specific content you’ve learned at MHS.

4.What did you learn from the other staff/volunteers? What have you learned from the children/families? Who made the greatest impression on you? What did you gain through this experience? What did the organization, staff, or children/families gain from having you as a volunteer?

5.Include any final thoughts. What are your final impressions of the organization? What did you like best or dislike most about this experience? Do you feel this will help you in your degree.

OPTION 2- Presentation

  1. Create a PowerPoint to include questions 1-5 from option 1
  2. Must include graphics/pictures and have solid text/graphic balance
  3. Max of 20 slides

OPTION 3- Create a movie

  1. Create a video using Movie Maker, YouTube, or video media answering questions 1-5 from Option 1
  2. This should NOT be simply a video of you speaking to the camera but rather should be more of an informational video.
  3. Three to Five minutes in Duration.
