SERVICE REQUESTPROCEDURES

The Georgia State University, Facilities Maintenance and Operations, (FM&O) department is subdivided into zones. The zones responsibilities are handled by zone maintenance teams as directed by the work order process as indicated below.

The Facilities Maintenance and Operations, (FM&O) department’s normal business hours are from 7:00 AM to 5:15 PM. After normal business hours, maintenance support will be available for services of an emergency or urgent nature.

Daily maintenance activities of the zones follow the following procedures:

  • All customer requests require an associated work order for the zone maintenance team to provide service.
  • All department representatives can fill out all the required information using the web based customer request form using FM&O provided log-in ID and password:

  • Customer requests can be placed with a live representative from Customer Service Center (CSC) at 404-413-0700.
  • Please call CSC for all emergency work requests.
  • Please call the University Police for all fire or safety related concerns at 404-413-2100.
  • After working hours or weekends, call 404-413-0700 and carefully listen to the instructions in order to place a work request in its appropriate category. Please leave a clear message indicating the nature of request includingyour contact phone number, your name, the location and building name for the work request.

If space temperature adjustment is needed, call the CSC. All other facility related maintenance is also the responsibility of the zone maintenance teams. Any problems with campus physical infrastructure should be referred to CSC, such as a building roof leak, door related problems, bathroom fixtures or elevator problems.

Services that are not directly related to campus building infrastructure offered by zone maintenance, after regular business hours are chargeable to the requesting department. Requesting departments can pay FM&O for the labor and material costs utilizing their department speed type code.

All facility modifications or special work requests that are not a part of normal facility maintenance will require a Facility Modification Request(FMR) form. The form must be filled out and approved by the department chair and the dean of the school in order to secure funding. A facility representative will contact the FMR initiator to provide a cost estimate for labor and material which is chargeable to the requestor.
