Employment Project: Interview Assignment Description

Once your resume gets you in the door, you must succeed in the interview. The magic formula for doing so includes

●Research

●Preparation

●Confidence

And learning the names of all interviewers. For real, calling people by their names is a legit job-getter.

To help you practice this process--and demystify it a little--we'll be doing mock interviews of each other using the job ads you've selected.

Word to y'all wise: Take notes after you complete both your interviewing experiences (as interviewer and interviewee). You will have to write evaluations of each experience. You will want a record for reference as you write.

Here's the way that shakes out:

●You will exchange resumes and ads with one other person

●You will take review the ad and resume of your buddy and develop three thoughtful interview questions designed to show you (the employer) that the candidate is not only right for the job, but right for the company, and has distinguished themselves from all the other candidates with comparable qualifications. To do this consider:

○Relevant experience (not just basic qualifications)

○Compatibility with and enthusiasm for the employer, the job, and the organization's culture

○Skills and traits possessed by the candidate beyond the minimum job requirements

●Once you've developed your questions, we will do the interview in class. Each buddy with be interviewed and do the interviewing.

●After the interview session, each person will write two documents:

○An Interview Evaluation based on your experience interviewing your buddy

○An Interview Reflection based on your experience being interviewed by your buddy

Final documents to be submitted for the Interview Assignment include:

●The questions you asked of the interviewee

○These questions are submitted to the P1 Supporting Document: Interview Questions, but must also be included with the P1 Final: Final Employment Project Documents

●Your Interview Evaluation

●Your Interview Reflection

These documents will be submitted when you turn in your P1 Final: Final Employment Project Documents. You do not need to submit your Evaluation and Reflect to a separate Canvas assignment prior to their inclusion in your final documents.
