Cynthia Nisley

Chief Operating Officer, Georgeson Securities Corporation

My role at Georgeson:

Since 2007, my role with Georgeson has included profit/loss responsibility for all our pre-escheatment asset reunification and search services as well as unclaimed asset programs, odd-lot programs and 10b-18 corporate repurchases or “buy-backs”. Our trading team also supports Computershare’s dividend reinvestment plan, direct stock purchase plan, and employee stock purchase plan trading through our introducing broker-dealer. I also serve as a director on the board of Computershare Trust Company, N.A., and the board of Georgeson Securities Corporation.

Previous responsibilities included management of Computershare’s investment services and corporate actions teams, as well as serving as general manager of Computershare Trust Company of New York before its merger into Computershare’s national trust company. Prior to my tenure in New York, I served as director of relationship management for transfer agent clients and as senior operations manager in Computershare’s Chicago office.

Prior to joining Computershare in July 2000, I worked as a systems consultant to the securities industry for nine years. Before that, I worked for Harris Trust and Savings Bank, supporting their securities lending system and for Arthur Andersen in their Management Information Consulting Division.

Why I am a member of the SSA:

The SSA not only provides industry education and a forum for sharing best practices, but also creates an atmosphere for building relationships and friendships that endure over the years. I also love that the SSA takes an active role in emerging issues – most recently in its support of the holder community’s advocacy around the drafting of a new uniform act on unclaimed property.

A little bit about me

I was born in San Francisco and grew up in southern California. My husband and I lived two years in Akron, Ohio before moving to Chicago and then to New Jersey in 2006 – so we’ve been working our way across the country and enjoying the unique climes and customs of each area where we’ve lived. We have two sons – both musicians and writers, so we enjoy having a lot of music and musicians in our house on a regular basis. My husband Rich is also a writer and blogs about a variety of topics including early American history, music, motor racing, and economics. In case you saw my magic tricks in the FATCA presentation at the SSA annual conference in 2013, my dad was a magician and he taught me those tricks – and served as an inspiration to me in all my public speaking.
