James Lesson 15

Luke 11:5-8

5. Then He said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend, and goes to him at midnight and says to him, `Friend, lend me three loaves; 6. for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him'; 7. and from inside he answers and says, `Do not bother me; the door has already been shut and my children and I are in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything.' 8."I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will get up and give him as much as he needs.

Luke 18:1-8

1. Now He was telling them a parable to show that at all times they ought to pray and not to lose heart, 2. saying, "In a certain city there was a judge who did not fear God and did not respect man. 3. "There was a widow in that city, and she kept coming to him, saying, `Give me legal protection from my opponent.' 4. "For a while he was unwilling; but afterward he said to himself, `Even though I do not fear God nor respect man, 5. yet because this widow bothers me, I will give her legal protection, otherwise by continually coming she will wear me out.' " 6. And the Lord said, "Hear what the unrighteous judge said; 7. now, will not God bring about justice for His elect who cry to Him day and night, and will He delay long over them? 8. "I tell you that He will bring about justice for them quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?"

Matthew 15:21-28

21. Jesus went away from there, and withdrew into the district of Tyre and Sidon. 22. And a Canaanite woman from that region came out and began to cry out, saying, "Have mercy on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is cruelly demon-possessed." 23. But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying, "Send her away, because she keeps shouting at us." 24. But He answered and said, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." 25. But she came and began to bow down before Him, saying, "Lord, help me!" 26. And He answered and said, "It is not good to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." 27. But she said, "Yes, Lord; but even the dogs feed on the crumbs which fall from their masters' table." 28. Then Jesus said to her, "O woman, your faith is great; it shall be done for you as you wish." And her daughter was healed at once.

Matthew 13:15

FOR THE HEART OF THIS PEOPLE HAS BECOME DULL, WITH THEIR EARS THEY SCARCELY HEAR, AND THEY HAVE CLOSED THEIR EYES, OTHERWISE THEY WOULD SEE WITH THEIR EYES, HEAR WITH THEIR EARS, AND UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART AND RETURN, AND I WOULD HEAL THEM.'

Luke 6:17-19

17. Jesus came down with them and stood on a level place; and there was a large crowd of His disciples, and a great throng of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and the coastal region of Tyre and Sidon, 18. who had come to hear Him and to be healed of their diseases; and those who were troubled with unclean spirits were being cured. 19. And all the people were trying to touch Him, for power was coming from Him and healing them all.

Luke 22:51

But Jesus answered and said, "Stop! No more of this." And He touched his ear and healed him.

and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.

1 Kings 17:5-7

5. So he went and did according to the word of the LORD, for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. 6. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he would drink from the brook. 7. It happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there was no rain in the land.

1 Kings 19:1-3

Now Ahab told Jezebel all that Elijah had done, and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. 2. Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, "So may the gods do to me and even more, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by tomorrow about this time." 3. And he was afraid and arose and ran for his life and came to Beersheba, which belongs to Judah, and left his servant there.

1 Kings 19:4

But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree; and he requested for himself that he might die, and said, "It is enough; now, O LORD, take my life, for I am not better than my fathers."

1 Kings 19:10, 14

10. He said, "I have been very zealous for the LORD, the God of hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they seek my life, to take it away."

14. Then he said, "I have been very zealous for the LORD, the God of hosts; for the sons of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars and killed Your prophets with the sword. And I alone am left; and they seek my life, to take it away."

1 Kings 17:1

Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, "As the LORD, the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, surely there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word."

1 Kings 16:29-34

29. Now Ahab the son of Omri became king over Israel in the thirty-eighth year of Asa king of Judah, and Ahab the son of Omri reigned over Israel in Samaria twenty-two years. 30. Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD more than all who were before him. 31. It came about, as though it had been a trivial thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he married Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went to serve Baal and worshiped him. 32. So he erected an altar for Baal in the house of Baal which he built in Samaria. 33. Ahab also made the Asherah. Thus Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel than all the kings of Israel who were before him. 34. In his days Hiel the Bethelite built Jericho; he laid its foundations with the loss of Abiram his firstborn, and set up its gates with the loss of his youngest son Segub, according to the word of the LORD, which He spoke by Joshua the son of Nun.

Joshua 6:26

Then Joshua made them take an oath at that time, saying, "Cursed before the LORD is the man who rises up and builds this city Jericho; with the loss of his firstborn he shall lay its foundation, and with the loss of his youngest son he shall set up its gates."
