Clare’s Corner

Tena koutou

Many thanks to the Friendship Force Wairarapa team who brought a group of Japanese visitors to our school last week. On arrival we had a mihi whakatau to welcome our guests and then our senior kapa haka roopu entertained them with a waiata and a final haka. One of the visitors wore the traditional kimono which the children enjoyed seeing. The guests, which included school age children, then went into the classrooms where they shared some traditional Japanese games and crafts with the students. You will see some amazing origami they gave us in our entrance foyer.

We were extremely proud of our students in the way they

embraced and welcomed our visitors. We hope that the

Friendship Force Wairarapa team will bring us more visitors

from around the world in the future.

Many thanks to the parents who popped in to discuss some fundraising ideas for the school with me last week. Together we can support our students and wonderful school by ‘providing a little extra for our children’.

I was disappointed to hear some inappropriate language being used in the playground this week. I have ZERO tolerance for bad language and wish to share the following:

If a child is heard to be using inappropriate language they will receive 1 warning with a consequence. 2nd offence, management will be making contact with home, plus a consequence.

I urge parents please to support us with this as we want our South End playground to be full of fun, laughter and positive talk.
