Dear Senator Carl Levin:
I am a concerned Michigan resident who lives in Oakland County, and I am writing you this letter to ask that you focus your attention on the drastically increasing problem that our state is experiencing in the way of heroin addiction and opiate-related overdose deaths. This drug has been devastating our communities and families for many years now, starting at the teen and continuing through young adult ages when it is turning fatal.
I am affiliated with a group of other concerned citizens called Bryan’s HOPE (Heroin & Opiate Prevention & Education) who have made contact with our local schools, media, courts, churches and township and county governments. We are finding support throughout these organizations because they too recognize that this very serious problem is reaching epidemic proportions.
However, to this point we are finding that our government has done very little in the way of providing our communities with education, awareness, or prevention programs to thwart this mounting crisis. Furthermore, most individuals feel that our local law enforcement agencies either do not care, or do not have the proper laws on their side to be able to do what is necessary to combat this snowballing detriment to our society. Therefore, I am writing you to ask that you support us in our effort to provide our state’scommunities with:
1)Awareness and acknowledgementby community leaders
2)More law enforcement involvementhotline to relay illegal drug activity information
3)More and better education and prevention programs in our schools
4)Legislation that allows for a Good Samaritan Act, and availability of naloxene kits.
I appreciate your help and ask that you please send a response letter to:

Thank you for your time and considering my request.
Sincerely,
