This document contains step-by-step instructions on how to add a printer to a workstation using the Lexmark CD or download. Steps may vary based on the driver software.
General Theory: General Theory: It is assumed that the printer is powered on and connected to the network (i.e., patched correctly at the quad jack and in the communication closet).
Detailed Instructions:
1. Print Setup page from printer to determine IP Address and configuration information.
1.1. On the printer panel, press the “Menu right-arrow” button until you see the “Network Menu” item.
1.2. Press the “Select” button two times.
1.3. Press the “Menu right-arrow” button until you see the “Network Option 1 Network 1 Setup” item.
1.4. Press the “Select” button. You should see “Print Setup Page”.
1.5. Press the “Select” button 2 times.
2. Logon to the target workstation with Administrative credentials.
3. Click the Start button and select Devices and Printers (this is just like Apple’s Printer Setup Utility System Preference).
4. Click the “Add a printer” option from the menu bar.
5. In the Add Printer dialog box click “Add a network, wireless, or Bluetooth printer” option and click Next.
6. Unless the desired printer is in the printer list, click “The printer that I want isn’t listed” and click Next.
7. Click the radio button by the “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname” option and click Next.
8. Select “Autodetect” as the Device type.
9. On the Type a printer hostname or IP address, enter the printer’s IP Address.
10. In the Port name: enter the printer’s Hostname.
11. Click the checkmark box to “Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use”.
12. Click Next.
13. In the Printer name: textbox enter the name entered in Step 10 and click Next.
14. On the Printer Sharing screen click the radio button to “Do not share”.
15. When successfully completing the setup, click to set as Default or uncheck to deselect.
16. Click the “Finish” button.
17. Note, you can also print a test page to verify connectivity.
18. Click the Print a test page button.
19. Click the “Finish” button.
20. When multiple printers appear in the Printers and Faxes dialog box, right-click the printer that you want to print most often and select Set as Default Printer.
