I am writing to provide you with an update regarding the progress of the above project.
Main Waterproofing Works
Whilst the project progress suffered delays earlier last year, due to the very heavy rainfalls experienced and the changes to how the waterproofing product (Triflex) is applied, the contractors, Volker Laser have made good progress and are on target to complete the majorityof the works by the end of February. It is likely that some areas of tiling (not main walkways) will be completed beyond this timescale. As of 8 January 81% of the overall works have been completed.
Landscaping
Following the residents’ survey and reviews by the Landscaping Working Party a detailed brief for the soft landscaping works was passed to the landscape architect, Nigel Dunnett. The funding required for the soft landscaping workswas securedat committee last month. These works include the filling of the raised beds (planting areas) with soil, a watering system and the planting of the shrubs and trees. A copy of the planting plans presented by Nigel Dunnett is enclosed. Copies of the planting plans can also be found at your Estate Concierge/Car Park Offices/Lobby Desk.
The replacement soil works will commence at the end of January and the planting will be done at the end of March, which will be overseen by the Landscape Architect. There will be some noisy works but these will not be at the level experienced during the main project. We will also be offering residents the opportunity to volunteer for a residents planting day with Nigel Dunnett in March. Further details of these works and specific dates will be highlighted in the weekly bulletins.
Reinstatementof the pond.
A concept design was presented to the Landscaping Working Party for the reinstatement of Bryer Pond by Nigel Dunnett in November and we are reviewing comments with the Working Party before progressing with a detailed design with Nigel Dunnett. It is anticipated that the reinstatement of the pond will follow the planting.
Bunyan Yard
We have already notified you that the refuse facilities that were previously located in the open yard at Bunyan Court Car Park have been temporarily relocated whilst the yard is being used by Volker Laser for the Beech Gardens project. When Volker Laser have completed their works there are plans for the renovation of the old YMCA building, 2 Fann Street. A planning application is due to be presented to the Planning Committee in February and if approved this project will also make use of Bunyan Yard. Therefore it is anticipated that the refuse facilities will remain in their temporary locations for another 2-3 years.
I would like to thank you all for your continued patience and understanding for the duration of this project, and look forward to seeing the newly planted Beech Gardens in the Spring.
If you have any other queries about this project please contact your House Officer.
Yours sincerely
