2. CHORTLE (chôr’ təl) v. chuckle and snort at the same time. n. a sound representing a combined chuckle and snort [chuckle + snort]

The students chortled when the teacher tripped over the chair.

3. SQUAWK (skwôk) v. make a lard, harsh sound. [squeak + squall]

The squawking of the chickens kept me up all night.

4. BLOG (blôg) n. a personal journal kept on the world wide web. [web + log]

He kept a daily blog explaining his thoughts on the day’s events.

Some invented portmanteau words:

1. FRUST (frust) n. The small line of debris that refuses to be swept onto the dust pan and keep backing a person across the room until he finally decides to give up and sweep it under the rug. [frustration + dust]

The phone rang before Sam could deal with the frust.

2. PHONESIA (fo nee' zhuh) n. The affliction of dialing a phone number and forgetting whom you were calling just as they answer. [telephone + amnesia]

He heard his mother’s voice, but his phonesia kicked in and he asked, “who am I calling?”

3.TELECRASTINATION (tel e kras tin ay' shun) n. The act of always letting the phone ring at least twice before you pick it up, even when you're only six inches away. [telephone + procrastination]

It was an emergency call so Monica’s telecrastination was not helpful.
