Approximately 2% - 5% of food value is lost each year, so it’s just a matter of time before all food value is lost.

Remember: All foods are subject to deterioration as time passes. The rate food deteriorates depends upon the particular food, its purity, the way it’s stored, and especially upon its environmental temperature. There is always some deterioration occurring in stored foods. Of course, foods must be clean at the time they are stored, and must be stored in clean containers free from insects, and sealed so insects cannot gain entrance. Chemical changes are continual, causing in texture, color and loss of vitamins and minerals. The most important thing to remember is to rotate your food.

“Eat what you store and store what you eat”.
