SECTION 1 - HORSE AND RING EVENTS

A Show Society may carry out random tests for drugs in horses.

The Society has covered stalls on the Showground to accommodate 40 stallions and 100 mares/geldings the charges for which are fixed as follows:-

Stallion Stalls - $7.00 for each horse for the duration of the Show.

Stalls - $5.00 for each horse for the duration of the Show.

Stallion stalls will not be allocated to any horse until all stallions have been stabled.

Unstabled Horses – i.e. horses in portable stables or electric fencing - $2.00 each horsefor the duration of the Show. Area to be allotted by the Society.

Camp Site fees $10 for the duration of the Show

NO ENTRY TICKETS TO RING SECTION WILL BE SOLD UNTIL HORSE STALLS OR UNSTABLED HORSE FEES ARE PAID AND A HORSE HEALTH DECLARATION IS SIGNED.

FEES FOR STALLS MUST ACCOMPANY APPLICATION..

Stalls will only be booked and held for competitors forwarding full stall fees with request for booking. Type of horse/s to be stated on Application Form.

ALL DOGS ARE TO BE CHAINED AT ALL TIMES, ON SHORT LEASHES, NOT ON WALKWAYS, AND AWAY FROM PUBLIC THOROUGHFARES.

Campers must be conversant with ERGON ENERGY regulations regarding temporary power and must comply with provisions of the Health Act. Safety aspects shall be strictly enforced.

THE COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO AMEND, ALTER OR ABANDON ALL OR PART OF THE RING PROGRAMME.

SPRAYING / DIPPING OF STOCK

No Spraying/Dipping Facilities will be available on the Showgrounds. For arrangements to have stock sprayed, Competitor to contact the Department of Primary Industries, Emerald 4982 8800.

RIGHTS OF ENTRY

Nomination fees must be paid before entering Rings.Members may enter in all Sections at reduced Entry Fees as stated at the head of each Ring or Event as appears in the Schedule, but this right shall not relieve the members from payment of any special qualifications or Entry Fee.

Member's privilege for Horse and Ring events is 50% of Entry Fee AND shall include MEMBER'S CHILDREN 14 YEARS AND UNDER, who compete in Ring Events. Such children are eligible for rebate on Entry Fees. No Exhibitor's passes will be issued for any day – admission fee is to be paid each day unless a member of the Society. A Competitor paying more than $20 in nomination fees will be eligible to have their gate charges refunded on presentation of gate ticket to the Secretary's office.

When framing the time-table for judging every endeavor will be made to avoid clashes of events, but events cannot be held up. Responsibility rests with the Competitor to inform the Stewards of any possible clashes in their events prior to the start of event/s.

The Junior Rule Applies.A Junior is deemed to be a rider under 17 years of age. A Junior Rider from 14 years of age may elect to ride in Galloway and Hack events. Junior competitors 13 years and under are not Eligible to Compete in Ring 1. Age as at first day of the Show. Statutory Declaration maybe required for proof of age.

The following shall be accepted as proof of age –A Birth Certificate; Driver's License; Current Passport

All Children less than 17 years of age must wear helmets – including those in fancy dress.

PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF 17 YEARS ARE FORBIDDEN TO HANDLE STALLIONS IN ANY EVENT.

Stallions may not compete in Hack Events, but can compete in other events where handler and rider are OVER 17 YEARS OF AGE. All aged Stallions and Colts in Led-in Classes to be led with a bar or chain and adequately strong headstall.

No unauthorized person will be allowed in the Ring.

No persons, except those actually engaged in charge of exhibits and the Stewards and Officials shall be permitted to remain in the yard, ring or grassed area in front of the Secretary's Office and Ring Boundary fence during judging on any pretense whatever.

Exhibits entering the wrong class may be transferred to the proper class by the Steward.

TICKET SYSTEM NOMINATION – Nominations will be in accordance with the "Ticket system” whereby competitors purchase one ticket per horse per class except Pairs and Teams, and acceptance to Class competition is by presentation of the Ticket. No entries accepted in Led Classes unless accompanied by papers and presented for inspection upon request.

Ribbons will be awarded at the Judge's discretion notwithstanding that there may be a provision in the schedule for awarding of ribbons. The Judge's decision in this respect will be final and conclusive.

Horses which are decorated with medals, ribbons or prize tickets awarded at previous Shows or event appearing in the ring for judging will be disqualified.

LOCAL events shall be interpreted and restricted to owners, riders/handlers and animals being resident/domicile of Springsure/Rolleston postal service areas and permanent residents, paddocked for the six (6) months prior to the Show.

Sponsored Riders – Please note NO banners or signs can be displayed away from trucks. Only Saddle Cloth logos and horse prefixes can be used in the ring.

A Galloway Hack cannot compete in other Hack Classes unless otherwise stated.MEASURING HORSES AND PONIES

A current year measuring card will be accepted. Any horse that has been measured at Alpha, Capella, Clermont or Emerald Show does not have to be measured again at Springsure. Owners must produce the measure certificate when requested. If there is an official complaint, horse will be measured again. The times for the measuring of horses will be announced or displayed at the Show. HEIGHT CARDS MUST BE CARRIED AT ALL TIMES.

HEIGHT OF HORSES

Shetland is not to exceed 10.2 hands.

Pony is not to exceed 14 hands.

Australian Saddle Pony is not to exceed 14.2 hands.

Galloway is over 14 hands, and not exceeding 15 hands.

An allowance of 12 mm (1/2 inch) for shoes will be made.

A MAIDEN is a horse that has not won a first prize in a similar event at an affiliated Show.

A NOVICE HACK is a horse that has not won an Open Championship at any Agricultural or Breed Show.

All horse ages to be calculated as from 1st August, unless otherwise stated.

Show-jumping shall be judged under E..A. & F.E.I. Rules.

Any horse or rider not ready to enter the Ring in accordance with the draw, and when called upon by the Marshaling Steward, shall automatically be scratched. A competitor not present after three (3) calls may be disqualified.

Lady and Gentleman Rider shall be interpreted as rider being 17 years of age or over on the first day of the Show.

All Pony Classes are eligible to be ridden only by a boy or girl less than 17 years of age with the exception of Australian Saddle Pony Classes.

Any horse may be eliminated from any event at the discretion of the Steward/s and/or Judges.

Method of awarding points for Trophies: First 3, Second 2, Third 1, Grand/Supreme Champion 7, Champion 5, Reserve Champion 2. In the event of a tie for any place, points awarded for the place and the next lower place shall be divided equally.

EXCESSIVE AND UNNECESSARY PUNISHMENT OF HORSES IN THE RING OR ON THE GROUNDS MAY LEAD TO DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE BALANCE OF THE SHOW.

PROTESTS

Any person/s objecting to an award or exhibit must immediately enter a verbal protest with the Steward and then enter a protest in writing, fully setting out the grounds of such objection, to be handed to the Chief Steward of the Ring with the necessary fee of $20, which may be forfeited at the discretion of the Executive Committee. The written protest must be lodged within thirty (30) minutes after the award in dispute has been made. The decision of the said Committee on all protests shall be final.

Every care will be taken of exhibits, but the Society will not be responsible for any loss or damage to exhibits while at the Show, or in transit to and from the grounds

Rules of Challenge

1.Horses must be ridden by the same competitor throughout all phases of the challenge

2.If riding more than one horse in an event – the order of horses to be ridden must be received with nominations

3. Horses must be ridden in a snaffle bit

4. Stallions not to be ridden by anyone under 17 years of age

5. All competitors under 18 years of age must wear helmets

6. A junior is a competitor 11 years & under

7.A Ringer is a person who has never won an open challenge, cutting or camp draft.

8.All competitors ride at their own risk

9. Judges decision is FINAL

10. Nominations must be received and PAID IN FULL by the 26th May 2017.

A Grand Parade will be held on Saturday following the luncheon break. Any exhibitor who fails to parade his/her horse shall forfeit all Prize Money won by him/her, and may be liable to a fine of $10.00 for each animal not paraded. The committee may grant exemption to any exhibit from participating in the Grand Parade.
