Provides reports to: / Chief Executive, Hospice Executive Group (HEG), Finance, Audit and Income Generating Executive Group (FAIG), Board of Trustees and as a member of the Executive Groups for the Subsidiary Trading Companies.
Job Purpose:
Position Held: / Working in partnership with the Hospice Executive Group (HEG), deliver effective Fundraising and Marketing Strategy for the Rowans Hospice Group. Lead the Fundraising and Marketing teams to raise awareness and maintain the profile of all areas of the Hospice Group.
To provide leadership for the fundraising and marketing teams in order to generate income so that the strategic aims of the organisation are met and that the strategic plan ensures an integrated and appropriate approach to engagement, including fundraising, marketing and capital campaigns.
The Director of Fundraising and Marketing will be a member of the Hospice Executive Group (HEG), and the operational boards for the Trading Subsidiaries.

Summary of Tasks and Responsibilities

Marketing, Brand Management and Development / ·  Responsible for the strategic management and practical development of the Branding and Corporate Identity Policy for the Hospice, working in a business partnership (BP) with other members of the HEG.
·  Responsible for the branding, marketing and public relations for the Rowans Hospice Group.
·  Develop the Hospice brand by ensuring brand guidelines are adhered to across the organisation and that the Hospice brand is further developed so that it becomes a part of the organisation, its culture and conduct.
·  To produce a Social Marketing Strategy, to direct and generate social marketing tactics to further engage and build loyal donors. Provide and deliver measureable objectives, evaluate and track results for campaign initiatives.
·  To utilise a variety of communication methods to maximise community engagement across the Hospice, community and the public.
·  Ensure digital innovation takes advantage of developments and delivers new cost effective support.
·  Ensure the Hospice’s marketing portfolio is relevant, comprehensive and compelling.
·  Inspire and introduce/develop new marketing initiatives to promote the Hospice as a whole to all sectors of the local community.
·  Develop and deliver an effective marketing strategy online and offline, including social media.
·  Ensure successful management and development of the Hospice website as a marketing tool for the Rowans Hospice Group.
·  Take a lead role to ensure a consistent message across the Group to increase awareness of the Hospice and continue to work within and develop the brand.
·  To support the growth and development of new business ventures.
Fundraising / ·  To initiate, research and develop new income generating activities for the Hospice, to include voluntary income programmes.
·  To ensure that the Hospice is maximising potential from all existing fundraising activities, exploiting lucrative new opportunities and gaining optimal returns on its fundraising and marketing investment.
·  Responsible for the Hospice programme of support for local fundraising, major events and awareness raising activities, supported by staff, volunteers and other stakeholders involved with an event.
·  Develop income opportunities from applications to trust funds and other grant making bodies.
·  Ensure robust analysis of return on investment and other financial measures to inform performance and take appropriate action.
·  Develop the strategy to maximise the engagement of existing and new companies, organisations and major supporters.
·  To collaboratively work with the CEO and HEG in relation to the Legacy Marketing and Grant Funding strategy.
·  Maximise the Donorflex database to ensure all supporters and stakeholders receive a quality service that meets and exceeds the expectation of stakeholders and enquirers.
·  Ensure new markets are evaluated and tested.
·  To ensure that fundraising and marketing related policies, procedures, standards and guidelines are reviewed and updated in accordance with changing legislation.
·  To lead and ensure adherence to regulatory GDPR requirements.
·  Represent the Rowans Hospice Group at fundraising events as necessary.
Business Development / ·  To support the Chief Executive and members of the HEG in the development of bids to increase statutory income.
·  Develop strategic links with other hospices, organisations and networks to ensure the external environment and any opportunities for development, are maximised.
·  Explore collaborative and business development opportunities to raise income including national, regional and local initiatives.
Specific Hospice Projects and Developments / ·  To lead on the forthcoming Capital Campaign for the future proofing project and development of the Hospice building.
·  To support as a business partner with new developments across the RHG.
Communications / ·  Ensure that all communications with external contacts are professional.
·  Communicate effectively with staff, trustees and volunteers to establish and maintain trusting relationships so as to develop and maintain effective working relationships with Hospice employees and volunteers.
·  To demonstrate empathic listening and respect for all those who are bereaved and experiencing loss in particular, patients, bereaved families and friends.
·  Promote the aims and objectives of the Hospice services to the general public.
·  To disseminate all relevant information to line managed teams to ensure effective communication and continuity of services are maintained.
Record Keeping / ·  To provide written reports as requested.
·  To produce minutes as appropriate.
·  Responsible for the data management systems that support income generation e.g. Donorflex; securing service functions from the Rowans Hospice Information Technology (IT) Department.
·  To ensure all relevant documentation is available for the CHKS and Care Quality Commission inspection and survey.
Leadership and Management / ·  As a HEG member, to provide leadership in all areas of the Hospice.
·  Participate in strategic planning as part of the HEG team and as required by the Chief Executive.
·  To work as a business partner with the HEG.
·  To ensure that fundraising and marketing policies, procedures, standards and guidelines are reviewed and updated in accordance with changing legislation.
·  Lead and manage the fundraising and marketing teams to achieve agreed objectives, taking into account and ensuring their wellbeing in the employment relationship.
·  To maintain good team morale and ensure appropriate support to fundraising and marketing teams.
·  Act as a representative of the Hospice in formal and informal ways, including attendance at functions and events as necessary.
·  To participate in the collection of data for approved survey, research management, planning projects and auditing.
·  To comply with Hospice Group policies, standards, guidelines and procedures.
·  To report to the Chief Executive and the HEG immediate concerns that may affect the smooth running or integrity/reputation of the Hospice
·  In conjunction with the HEG, support continuous quality improvement in practice and service delivery.
·  To support ongoing accreditation, ensuring National Legislation is met. In particular CHKS.
·  To promote a positive learning culture at every level of the organisation.
·  Work pro-actively to promote the equal opportunities policy across the Group, both in respect of service delivery and line management.
·  To take part in the HEG on-call service to the Hospice Group.
Health & Safety / ·  Comply with all Health and Safety regulations especially Accident Prevention, Fire Safety and Food Hygiene Practice.
·  Ensure public safety at events.
·  Ensure that equipment is used correctly and maintained in safe working order.
·  To ensure that equipment is kept clean and in good working order, checked routinely and that any defect or malfunction is reported to the Director of Quality.
·  To act at all times to promote the safety and wellbeing of staff, volunteers and patients.
·  To ensure the safe storage and use of hazardous substances according to COSHH regulations.
·  To ensure that any observed actual or potential Health & Safety hazards are immediately reported.
Education / ·  In conjunction with the CEO and HEG, to implement and participate in the development of orientation and educational activities as required.
·  To attend lectures, formal meetings etc. to maintain professional update, adhere to aspects related to the Health and Safety at work act and promote the effective running of the Hospice.
·  To attend fire lectures, manual handling training sessions, CPR lectures and participates in fire drills as directed.
·  Undertake training and development as required for Hospice and personal development using supervision and performance review and PREP as a basis for identifying training needs.

To undertake any other duty within your ability and within reason, as may be required from time to time, at the direction of your line manager.

ASSISTANCE

The Hospice has the advantage of being supported by a number of volunteers. If a volunteer is assigned to assist you at any time, you will still retain responsibility for the requirements of this job in terms of accuracy, efficiency and standards of completion. You will also ensure good communication and be mindful of your responsibility towards that volunteer in terms of Health and Safety.

You should be aware of the confidential nature of the Hospice environment and/or your role. Any matters of a confidential nature, relating to patients, carers, relatives, staff or volunteers must not be divulged to any unauthorised person.

SAFEGUARDING CHILDREN AND VULNERABLE ADULTS

All staff and volunteers have a responsibility to report any circumstances where they feel vulnerable adults or children are being subjected to abuse to a senior clinician or the ‘Safeguarding Lead’.

You should make yourself aware of the requirements of the Data Protection Act and follow local codes of practice to ensure appropriate action is taken to safeguard confidential information.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

You are required to take reasonable care for your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your acts or omissions and you should ensure that statutory regulations, policies, codes of practice and safety and good house-keeping rules are adhered to, attending safety and fire lectures as required.
