TheResearchFellowshipandExternalGrantDevelopmentgrantswillbeevaluatedattheCollegelevel usingssystemofblindreview.WritePI name(s)onthecoverpageonly.Removecitationsorreferencesto one’sown workintheliteraturereview.
New(pre-tenured)facultyproposalswillbeevaluatedalong withsenior(tenured)facultyproposals;
however,theCollegeResearchCommitteehascreatedtwoseparatepoolsofmoney.When more applications are submitted than can be funded, newfacultywho submitproposalsareeligiblefor upto 75%oftheURGfundssetasideforthe ResearchFellowshipand ExternalGrantDevelopmentgrants.Seniorfacultyproposalsareeligiblefor up to25%ofthefunds.The proportionsmaybealteredbasedontheactualnumberoffacultywhosubmitproposalsineachcategory. Jointproposalssubmittedbytenuredandpre-tenuredfacultywillbeconsideredinthepre-tenuredfacultypooloffunds.
Noprojectthatisalreadyfundedbyothersourcesiseligiblefor submission.

Fellowship/ExternalGrantDevelopmentgrant mustresignthe grantandreturnallmoniestotheOfficeof theDean,CollegeofEducation.
NoURGmoneycanbe spentonincentives,stipends,orfoodforparticipants.Incentivesareconsidered gifts,whichare notallowablewithURGmoney.
Failuretoreporttheprofessionaloutcomesbytheduedates willresultinallinvestigatorsinvolvedinthe
URG-fundedprojectbecomingineligibleforfutureURGcompetitionsfora periodoffive years.
FacultyAssociatescannotbefundedthroughUniversityResearchGrantdollars;however,faculty associatesareencouragedtosubmitresearchproposals.TheCRC willreviewproposalsfortheirmerit
usingCollegeofEducationcriteriaand forwardthereviewtotheSuperintendentoftheLaboratory
Schools,whowilldetermineactionbasedonavailablefunding.
EvaluationCriteria
ItisexpectedthatUniversityResearchGrantproposalsareevaluatedandreceiveaninitialformativereviewatthe departmentor schoollevelpriorto submissiontotheCollege.Department/Schoolcommitteeswillevaluateeach URGproposalusingthe Collegecriteriaandprovidefeedbacktoapplicantsbeforetheysubmittheirproposalstothe CollegeResearchCommittee.
TheDepartment/SchoolwillforwardallsubmissionswiththePIandChair/DirectorsignaturestotheCollegeby April15 (or nearestweekdayafterApril15ifit fallsonaweekend).TheCollegeResearchCommitteewillevaluate eachURGproposalusinga blind-reviewprocesstomakethefinaldecisionregardingtheURGawards.Seethe attachedCOEURGProposalReviewGuidelines.

ProfessionalOutcomes
Allapplicantsmustsubmittheirrealisticanticipatedprofessionaloutcomesforyears1 and 2.Results mayinclude (butare notlimitedto)presentations,publications,manuscriptsubmissions,externalgrantproposalsubmissions, grantresubmissions,orotherrecognizedscholarlyoutcomes.Theanticipatedprofessionaloutcomesmustbe realisticyetconsistentwiththe highestacademicstandardsfor scholarlyproductivity.Inprojectingoutcomes, applicantsshouldincluderesultslikelytooccurwithintwoyearsfromthedateoftheaward.
Theactual outcomesoftheURG-fundedactivitiesareindicatedonprofessionaloutcomeformssubmittedinthetwo financialyears followingtheaward.TheoutcomeformsaredueonOctober1for the2 yearsfollowingtheaward.It identifiesallscholarlyresultsofworkfundedbythe grant.
OutcomesintheExternalGrantDevelopmentcategorymustincludea submissionofanexternalgrantforyear1.If the grantis funded,theoutcomeforyear2willsummarizetheprogressofthe grant.Ifthe grantisnotfunded,the outcomeforyear2willindicatehowthegrant wasrevisedandresubmittedtothe sameagencyorsubmitted elsewhere.
